Boomer Women w/ Time & Sense of Humor, a Member Driven Group
**Hello Baby Boom Era Ladies!**   **Here we are in a post-pandemic world. You might be feeling a bit disconnected and wanting some new adventures!  Let’s connect with other women and create new memories and experiences!  The entire Bay Area is alive with interesting things to do!  At the end of this intro I will list some ideas for the Meet-Ups to get your creative juices flowing.  Keep in mind that many are still very cautious as the virus is still with us and there might be some Meet-Ups where a mask is a good idea or required.  At other events, it’s your option.**       **I set this group up in a way that EVERY MEMBER is an organizer, not just me the founder.  What that means is that every member can do exactly what I can do and plan a Meet-Up and be its host!  It’s so easy to do!  Pick the event and location.  Select the time and date.  Type up an explanation of what it is.  You may set a limit on how many may attend.  People will sign up.  If you put a limit on attendees, people can be put on a wait list.  After you’ve created your event it will be emailed to all members!    It’s truly easy to do this – very few tech skills are required.**   **Periodically, we may have a ZOOM meeting where we can meet and greet, brainstorm ideas for Meet-Ups, and talk about whatever comes up!**   **And always – bring your sense of humor!  Bring your sense of adventure and interest in meeting others.  Who knows, you may make a new life-long friend or three!  Do you need to be an outgoing extrovert?  Absolutely, no!  Introvert/shy members are in a safe place.  If you are the more quiet type who likes intimate conversations, limit the number of attendees to your Meet-Up or pick events that suit you.**   **A few “rules.”** * **If you RSVP to attend a Meet-Up, don’t be a flake. No-shows will be marked as such.  You must be considerate of the time and effort the host and other members have made for this event.** * * **Three no-shows will have you removed from the group.** * * **We know that emergencies come up.  Please give 24 hours notice for your cancellation, which allows some on the wait list to be added as “going.”** * * **Zero tolerance for any form of bigotry or hateful speech.** * **This group is for WOMEN ONLY!  Every now and then a man signs up. Believe me, he will be removed from the group.** **Here are some ideas to help you create Meet-Ups:** **Meet-ups can be indoors or outdoors** **Weekdays or weekends** **Gather at a local café** **Gather at a local dive-bar** **Lunch and a walk** **Organize a beach or neighborhood trash clean-up** **Listen to music** **Nature walks** **Birding** **Plant wildflower seeds** **Museums** **Comedy clubs** **Readings at book stores** **Pot-lucks** **Tea parties** **Cocktail parties** **Wine tasting** **Chocolate tastings or other foodie tastings** **Plan a Meet-Up to celebrate YOU on your birthday** **Gather on a holiday with others who might be alone** **See how easy that is! I know you’ve got ideas. You’ve got people, places and things which our members/your soon to be new friends will enjoy.** **I look forward to meeting you!** **Linda Greenberg**

San Francisco 55+ Neighborhood Walking Groups

San Francisco, CA

San Francisco 55+ Neighborhood Walking Groups
This group is for people 55+ to find a local group near them to walk together on a regular basis. I started this group in memory of my grandmother. It cannot be stressed enough how important it is to have community, know your neighbors, and to stay active. We have groups in: \- Forest Hill \- West Portal \- Bernal Heights \- Inner Richmond \- Miraloma/Westwood Heights \- Urbana/Westwood Park \- NOPA/Panhandle But please let me know if you would like to start a group in your neighborhood. **Dog Policy:** While we love our furry friends, some of our walkers have expressed discomfort around dogs, and we aim to create a comfortable environment for everyone. Therefore, we kindly request that dogs are not brought on our walks, unless explicitly stated otherwise. Walks designated as "dog friendly" will be clearly labeled, allowing those with canine companions to participate accordingly.  **Diverse Walking Abilities:** Our group is comprised of people with varying walking abilities. We strive to accommodate everyone and encourage a supportive atmosphere. Please be mindful of the pace and needs of your fellow walkers, and help us maintain an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy their walking experience. **Safety First:** The safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. We ask that you stay alert and follow any guidelines provided by walk leaders. If you have any concerns or require assistance, please do not hesitate to inform the group leader.

Mensa / San Francisco Region

San Francisco, CA

Mensa / San Francisco Region
This MeetUp provides a dynamic way for members of San Francisco Regional Mensa to get the latest on Mensa events in the Bay Area and to more easily host their own Mensa events. The idea is that by eliminating the very long lead time now necessary to post things to The Intelligencer (our monthly newsletter), we will have more, and more varied, events on the calendar. You **MUST** be a **\*current\*** member of Mensa to join this group. When you click "Join Us" (above right), you must include your full name, your Mensa membership number, and the country where you are registered as a member of Mensa, so that we can verify your membership status. If you'd like to become a member of Mensa, please go to the SFRM website, [http://www.sfmensa.org/](http://www.sfmensa.org/), to find out how to qualify, or to locate a testing session near you. In the meantime, you can join us in our [San Francisco Mensa Friends Meetup](https://www.meetup.com/San-Francisco-Mensa-Friends/) where we have events open to non-members. **Organizers and Event Organizers can post events directly to our Meetup site, but Meetup no longer allows non-organizers to post events directly.** If you are a member of our Meetup group, but not an organizer, and you wish to have an event posted, click on "Suggest a new Meetup", or send an email to meetup@sfmensa.org. Be sure and be specific as to what the event is, including a full description, date, time, and location.  If you'd like the event to recur on a regular basis (e.g., 3rd Wednesday of the month), be sure to specify that as well. **Note that the list of events on Meetup doesn't usually include all SFRM events, so also check the SFRM calendar in our monthly newsletter, The Intelligencer.** You can see the monthly newsletter's calendar online at https://www.sfmensa.org/events/. We hope to see you soon!
