Tennis Nashville Meetup
Tennis Nashville is the Middle Tennessee USTA Community Tennis Association (CTA) with the mission to promote and grow the game of tennis. Our meet up community is a relaxed group of passionate tennis players. Tennis Nashville Meetup is about getting tennis enthusiasts in the Nashville/Middle TN area together for playing pickup co-ed doubles and singles tennis! There are recurring meetups several days each week, where members at all levels are welcome to come play. For questions about Meetup, reach out to [meetuptennisnashville@gmail.com](mailto:meetuptennisnashville@gmail.com) See you on the court! House Rules: 1. **Player interactions: These events are social, fun events. Rude, disruptive or intolerant behavior will NOT be permitted. You may be permanently removed from the group for inappropriate behavior.** 2. **RSVP: If you sign up, show up! An RSVP is a promise to attend the event. Please update RSVPs early to give notice to waiting players. After a no-show (failing to show up or cancelling right before the event starts), the individual will not be permitted to sign up for the following week's event. In the event of an emergency, please reach out to your host.** 3. **Late arrivals: Players will play in the order of arrival, if you are late you may have to wait to be rotated into the event (based on number of players). Players who are more than 15 minutes late to the event may forfeit their spot on the court if another player is present/ready to play. Please keep your host/group updated on late arrivals via the app chat feature.** 4. **Skill level: if a meetup indicates a particular skill level, hosts are encouraged to ensure the players meet criteria. A host may let you know that other meetups might be more appropriate for your skill and ask you to not return until you meet the criteria. Please know this is only to keep all of our events competitive and fun. If you are unsure about the event, please message your host!** 5. **Court fees: some meetups may have court fees in order to guarantee court availability. Routine failure to pay court fees will result in removal from the group.** 6. **For public courts, please get familiar with the rules posted by the Nashville Parks department: [https://www.nashville.gov/departments/parks/athletics/court-rules](https://www.nashville.gov/departments/parks/athletics/court-rules)** 7. **Discussion Groups: All meetup members may post messages in our discussion group on Meetup.com. Common courtesy standards apply for all interactions, virtual and personal. The meetup organizer reserves the right to remove any discussions or posts which are discourteous, disruptive, solicitous, or not on-topic.** 8. **Trash on the tennis courts: Leave the courts in better condition than they are found.** 9. **No solicitation: The purpose of joining TNM should be to look for opportunities to play with other tennis players. Anyone joining for the purpose of advertising any product or service, or for soliciting membership for any purposes not specifically approved by meetup organizers, is subject to being removed from TNM membership.** 10. **Concerns/complaints: If you have a concern or complaint, please raise the issue to your event host or you may email tennisnashville@gmail.com.** 11. **Hosts: Hosts are volunteers, please be courteous and thank them for their time and effort. The house rules are general guidelines, hosts may have more guidelines for their events. These will be posted on the event page.**

Onwards and Upwards

Nashville, TN

Onwards and Upwards
**WELCOME** Hi y’all and welcome! So we’re all about bringing people together for social activities—indoor and outdoor—food, hiking, concerts, bars, group trips—anything really. If you have an idea, then let us know. All are welcome, whether you’re new to the area, or consider yourself a native—but whatever you are, or wherever you’re from, *we’re all better off moving onwards and upwards through life together!* **Join our Facebook page to get the inside scoop on upcoming events!** **https://www.facebook.com/groups/6812824028779674** **THE ‘SMALL PRINT’** Please ensure you upload a **CLEAR FACE PIC** when requesting to join, as it will help us recognize you during your first meetings, and not doing so could delay, or even prevent you from joining the group. And by ‘clear face pic’, it needs to be **JUST YOU**—not you and others, where we have no idea who you are! Also, can we get your name too, and not just some random numbers? Members need to be 21 or older, as many meetups take place at ‘adult’ venues. There is no upper age limit—you’ll know whether you fit in or not! By joining, you give permission for us to use photos taken of you for promotional/social media purposes. **COMMON COURTESY** If you RSVP to an event, please show up! Most events have a waitlist, and it isn’t fair for the folks waiting to not get the opportunity to attend. Our policy is that after THREE NO-SHOWS without a proper cancellation, an individual will be removed from the group. If you find you’re unable to attend, please cancel at least 24 hours before the event to give those on the waitlist a chance of attending. However, if the situation is beyond your control, then that is perfectly fine. But if you cancel on the day of the event without prior warning, this will be marked as a NO SHOW. This also prevents waitlisted people from being able to attend, as they receive their notifications (that they’re now going) far too late. **ABOUT THE WAITLIST** While it can be disappointing to miss out on an event because you’re on the waitlist, the waitlist **IS THERE FOR A REASON**. Often the event/venue can only accommodate so many, and so may have been reserved for that number. If you are on the waitlist, please DON'T MESSAGE US and ask if you can still attend, or worse, just turn up to the event. It would be unfair to those who signed up sooner to not get a seat, and we would be put in the very uncomfortable position of having to ask you to leave. Having said that, if the venue can hold more, we often slide 'waitlisted' folks to 'going', especially those of you who have previously attended events and supported the group. **Thanks for your understanding in this.** We want everyone to have a good time, meet people and make new friends. Please be nice to one another, and be respectful! Any discourteous behavior will be investigated and if necessary, a warning given, and could result in removal from the group. And once again, there is an RSVP system in place, so PLEASE DON'T JUST SHOW UP TO EVENTS! Oh, and one final thing... please ensure you have a means of getting to, and FROM events. Don't assume that some Good Samaritan will just drive you home! And finally, no advertising or soliciting whatsoever. Instant removal!

Nashville Spanish-English Conversation Group

Nashville, TN

Nashville Spanish-English Conversation Group

Welcome to the Nashville Spanish-English Conversation Group!!

Our group is made up of individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and Spanish & English language levels.

We meet on Thursdays for a language exchange. During these meetings, we speak Spanish for the first hour and English for the second. People of all Spanish/English levels are welcome.

The only requirements are: 1) a desire to learn/practice English/Spanish, 2) a willingness to help others learn/practice English/Spanish, and 3) a respectful attitude. We are all learning here and we will make mistakes!

Our goal is to create a safe space to practice speaking English/Spanish in a low stress environment so that we can feel more comfortable speaking English/Spanish out in the world.

Through learning about each other's languages, countries, and cultures many of us have become great friends.
We enjoy spending time with each other so we sometimes have more activity focused meetups (normally on the weekends) outside of our Thursday language exchanges. These activities are scheduled at random - according to group member interests and organizer availability. Please feel free to suggest an activity focused meetup to any of the organizers.

During our weekend meetups there will not be an "official" 'Spanish Hour' or 'English Hour', however, the unofficial language of all of our meetings is Spanglish so it is possible to practice English/Spanish at any of our events.

We ask that you RSVP responsibly, show up on time(ISH), and have a profile picture that clearly shows your face in order to make finding each other easier.

This group is growing rapidly.
So, it is possible that unfortunate events between group members could possibly occur. Please report any unwelcome or aggressive comments or actions to one of the organizers immediately. It is our intention to create an environment where everyone feels safe - all the time.

Welcome to the group. We hope to meet you soon!!

Shuffle Speed Dating - Nashville, TN

Nashville, TN

Shuffle Speed Dating - Nashville, TN
***[New events coming soon. Subscribe to the email list.](https://forms.gle/hZzXdZqzys9nSxaA6)*** ***You MUST purchase tickets for entry using the link in the event description. RSVP on Meetup is NOT necessary (it does not give you a spot in the event and is not an accurate representation of the participation list).*** There’s a new & better way to date: **[Shuffle Dating](shuffle.dating/nashville)** **How it works:** * You simply show up and follow instructions via your phone. * We notify you what time your date(s) starts. * We tell you who you’ll be dating – yes, you find them! * We give you a prompt to guide your conversation. * You tell us (via text) if you want to Match! (M) your date, or Pass (P) on them. Repeat. **Casual dress code.** **Prompts.** → Dress to impress? We don’t think so. Instead, just be comfortable. Show up in whatever you like to normally wear, whether that’s your Sunday-morning sweats, your favorite snapback, everyday hoodie, or business casual – it’s totally up to you. No expectations, just be comfortable 🙂. → You’ll be on multiple, short(ish) dates – don’t waste that precious time on formalities! You can catch-up on details later if you both match. Instead, spend your 10-minutes engaging in interesting, in-depth conversation using the prompts that we provide you. This way, you’ll have a great time with each date regardless of the outcome. **9 rounds.** **Longer conversations.** → Events are limited to 9 rounds. We believe that this is a sufficient number of rounds to meet a variety of people while avoiding burnout. → While we offer a smaller number of rounds than traditional speed dating events, we provide more time per round – usually around 10 minutes. This gives participants time to dive into an actual conversation and get to know one another, as opposed to the usual 3-5 minute rounds in traditional speed-dating events. **FAQ** **What is your cancellation/no-show policy? [SERIOUS]** * Due to the nature of our events, every turnout is critical to the success and experience for all participants. Please read our policy below. * Cancellations are non-refundable. Only in special cases such as family emergencies, sickness, or work-related issues will we refund your cancellation (not including the service fee), and this is ONLY if we are notified 72-hours or more in advance of the event. If you decide to cancel, you MUST let us know. Again, cancellations within 72-hours of the start of the event will NOT be refunded for any reason, no exception. * No-shows are extremely detrimental to the quality of our events. If you do not show up without any notice or reasoning, you will be charged an additional $50 and may be permanently banned from participating in all future events. We take this extremely seriously because the quality of our events rely on participants showing up. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this. * Leaving in the middle of an event will be considered a no-show. **What are the ground-rules? [SERIOUS – PLEASE READ]** Safety * We take the safety of our participants as our number one priority. As our events do not have any physical host present, we coordinate with the venue and their staff to help facilitate an environment that ensures safety and confidence among all participants. Please read below for what is expected of you (as the participant) during our event: * You are expected to interact with other participants respectfully while maintaining appropriate boundaries. You will NOT share or provoke personally sensitive information (contact, address, etc.). You will NOT engage with other participants that harms or makes them feel uncomfortable in any way. * If you are made to feel uncomfortable by any participant, you will have the ability to report to us immediately. * If the event is held at a venue that serves alcohol, you are expected to moderate your alcohol intake so that you can participate in our event without any complication to the other participants, staff, or anyone else at the venue. **Matching** * Your contact information will not be shared with any participants at our events UNLESS you have a successful match. In the case of a successful match (you and the other participant indicate "M" for each other), then we will share your contact information (email, cell-phone number) ONLY with each other after the event. **Shuffle is not responsible for any and all interactions beyond and outside of its events.** DISCLAIMER OF RESPONSIBILITY * While Shuffle coordinates to maintain a safe environment, the company cannot guarantee 100% safety when using its service. By using Shuffle, you will interact with other participants face-to-face, interact with 3rd party venues and its staff, and potentially interact with non-participants. The company does not conduct a background check on its participants. * Under no circumstances will Shuffle or its affiliates be liable for any damages or harm that may occur to the participant through its services. Shuffle assumes no responsibilities whatsoever for any damages caused to Participants, Non-Participants, Staff, or any Affiliate, of or by any product or service provided by Shuffle. **What happens if there is an uneven number of participants?** * We ask all participants for confirmation 1-hour prior to the start of the event. For example, if your event starts at 12pm, we text you at 11am asking for confirmation. By 11:30am, we finalize the list of participants for that Shuffle. If there is an imbalance of participants, then we introduce “break-rounds” to substitute for a dating-round. * Example: 8 men and 6 women confirm they will participate. The men will each have 6 dates and 2 “break-round” – the women will each have 8 dates. **I’m 30 years-old but would rather register for the 31-41 bracket. Am I allowed to?** * Yes! If you are 2 or less years removed from the next age bracket, you are welcome to register for it. So for example, if you are 29 and wish to register for the 31-41 bracket, you are welcome to do so. Likewise, if you are 43 and wish to register for the 31-41 bracket, you may do so as well. **Are there breaks in-between dates?** * You get roughly 5-minutes in-between dates (to rate your previous date and to find your next one), so you have plenty of time to go to the restroom or order a(nother) coffee/drink. With that said, we encourage you to show up to the venue early to accommodate for these. **My date and I found each other a bit early. Can we just start chatting?** * Yes! If you and your date find each other a few minutes early, just start chatting away. **I wasn’t able to get a match.** * You absolutely should not feel down or discouraged! Because the events are limited to 5 dates, it is entirely possible to leave the event without a successful match. You still take away valuable experience and hopefully, fun and interesting conversations. We encourage you to attend more Shuffle's as you are bound to find matches along the way. **So I give someone a Match! [M]. Now what?** * Your dates will never see your responses. Instead, if you have successfully matched with a date (both indicated an [M]), we will share your numbers with each other within 24 hours after the event. **Do I need to keep my phone on the entire time?** * It isn’t necessary, but we highly encourage you to do so. Since we use text notifications to moderate the entire event, you will be engaging with your phone quite often. We recommend you to leave notifications, vibration, and even sound on so you can react accordingly to our notifications in a timely manner. **Will my phone automatically subscribe to Shuffle?** * When you sign up to a Shuffle, we will ask for your permission to send you text notifications leading up to and throughout the event. However, once the event is over, you will no longer receive notifications from us. Questions, comments, concerns? Feedback??? Please contact us! nashville@shuffle.dating
