Hello, everyone! I am planning a winter hike at the North and South Uncanoonuc Mountains in Goffstown, NH. The hike is a moderate to advanced 5-mile trail loop pair with a total elevation gain of about 1,387 feet. We will be traveling via the White Dot, Red Dot, Link, and Summit Trails. I have included a photo from AllTrails. There are some very scenic views. Please note that I am also posting this event in the “20s and 30s Hanging Out” and the "Outdoor Adventures 20s and 30s" Meetup groups.
Please bring the following gear in lieu of the winter weather:
Water (3-4 bottles)
Boots
Snow Pants
Microspikes (These are a must!)
Snacks (as needed)
Gloves and Winter Hat
Parking is located off of Mountain Road in Goffstown, NH: Enter Uncanoonuc Trails Parking, Mountain Road, Goffstown, NH as your destination address. I cannot guarantee that there will be enough parking spaces and for those bringing guests, please carpool.
I estimate that the hike will take about 4 hours, but we will stop for breaks along the way. I want to point out that after hiking our first loop at North Uncanoonuc, we will be passing by the parking lot a second time before advancing to the second loop at South Uncanoonuc. Do not feel pressured to hike both mountains if you do not feel up to it. After the a 2.1-mile hike at North Uncanoonuc, I will check in with the group to see how many of us are up to hiking at South Uncanoonuc. I want friends to feel comfortable and also want to assure the group that our pace won’t leave anyone behind.
Plan to be in the parking lot at 8:45am. When I arrive, I will post a comment to confirm my location. We will then begin the hike at 9:00am. Please remember to update your RSVP if you are unable to attend!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me a message or post a comment below and I will reply. I will be keeping a close eye on the weather throughout the week. This event will be subject to change depending on weather conditions.
