What weโre about
WELCOME!
We have events, outings or parties in Tokyo, Chiba and elsewhere for Japanese and foreigners who want to build good social relations while exploring this amazing area.
We like socializing with food and drinks including city and country walks, park and garden tours with picnics, exploring "hidden" neighborhoods, old homes and castles, enjoying traditional and modern festivals, fairs, concerts, comedy shows, museums, arts and crafts, unique art events and special "happenings"!
Discover Japan, practice English/Japanese communications, make new friends, and invite your friends to join!
Volunteers are welcome, and we're eager to hear your suggestions for future meetups.
Domo Arigatou!
~ Kerry @}:^)!
P.S. We need volunteers especially Japanese-English and English-Japanese translators!
Volunteers may help in planning future events, assist the organizers on Meetup days, will get FREE admission to special events, and may enjoy other nice benefits too numerous to mention here..

"During the Edo period, a diverse array of highly individual artists emerged, and their unique styles took the world by storm. Their works continue to fascinate people to this day.
Our collection includes superb works by the six giants of ukiyo-e: Suzuki Harunobu, Torii Kiyonaga, Kitagawa Utamaro, Tลshลซsai Sharaku, Katsushika Hokusai, and Utagawa Hiroshige.
This exhibition will display all those select works, also introduces a delightfully exciting selection of ukiyo-e, including "giga", farcical pictures by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, presented thanks to the cooperation of the famous ลta Memorial Museum of Art,."
Thanks to the NHK Taiga historical drama featuring Tsutaya Jลซzaburล, the ukiyo-e publisher or hanmoto, ukiyo-e have been attracting considerable attention this year!"
๐จ
Museum admission: Adults: 1,400 yen. Students: 1,100 yen โ 500 yen
*Discount of 200 yen for adults wearing kimono!

The excellent Kokugakuin University Museum currently has two superb, FREE exhibitions, "AYNU MOSIR", and "MIKOSHI", both of which will end soon. I guarantee you will enjoy this astonishingly fine, but strangely little-known museum!

Before & after viewing the exhibitions, to maximize our joy of living in Japan, we'll be stopping by a number of shrines, monuments, "Power Spots" & a couple of unique museums in the Ebisu-Shibuya Area!

Places we might visit include:
- Ebisu-jinja Shinto Shrine
- Koshin Hashikuyo Monument
- Amida-Sekkanbutsu
- Shitsusen-ji Temple
- Hokiichi Hanawa Historical Museum
- Yakuoin Hosen-ji Temple
- Shibuya Hikawa-jinja
- Kokugakuin University Museum
- Kono Hachiman Shrine
This is a great chance to stretch our legs & socialize while discovering some of the superb artistic, cultural & historical treasures of this, "off-the-beaten-path" area that most people never see!
๐
There are lovely neighborhood temples & shrines with superb gardens & a green park by the jinja where we can eat our picnic lunches, so bring what you need & maybe something to share.

Wear comfortable shoes, as we'll be walking for a while with rest-stops.
