What we’re about
The Alexandria Movie Group is a group that meets up for films and film festivals in the DC Area.
If you like seeing movies on the big screen rather than your TV and hanging out with some great people, join us for showings of whatever is playing in theaters around the DC Area. After the movie, we will grab a drink, a snack, or dinner near by the theater. The meetings after are more about getting to talk and hang out with some great people than the food and drink.
Please note that this group does not get free screenings, everyone pays for their own ticket. This group is here as a community of great people and movie lovers.
See you all at the movies!

When the glittering Las Vegas revue she has headlined for decades announces it will soon close, a glamorous showgirl must reconcile with the decisions she’s made and the community she has built as she plans her next act.
The Last Showgirl, a poignant film of resilience, rhinestones and feathers, stars Pamela Anderson as Shelly, a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. Directed by Gia Coppola, The Last Showgirl co-stars Oscar®️, SAG®️ Award and Golden Globe®️ winner Jamie Lee Curtis, as Shelley’s best friend, who brings her own unique interpretation and brilliance to the story, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd. Written by Kate Gersten, the film is produced by Natalie Farrey and Robert Schwartzman and features a new original song “Beautiful That Way,” sung by pop superstar Miley Cyrus, produced by Academy Award nominee Andrew Wyatt and written by Wyatt, Cyrus and Lykke Li.

Let’s see The Brutalist at AMC Shirlington! We’ll be at the 3:00pm showing on Saturday, January 18. I’ll be at seat E1.
I believe this film has a fifteen minute intermission built in the middle and we can potentially chat together during that time.
This film just won Best Director (Brady Corbet), Best Motion Picture Actor-Drama (Adrian Brody), and Best Motion Picture-Drama at the Golden Globes and is expected to do well throughout the rest of the awards season.
