What we’re about
The idea behind of this group is to share our passion for the city of Porto, in that space wherein its history can be seen and perceived in the cobbles under our feet and the buildings that have witnessed countless lives for countless generations. In the words of the Italian Italo Calvino "the city doesn't let go of its past, it keeps it like the lines of one's hand, keeps it written in street corners, in the railings of windows, in the bannisters of stairways, in flag poles, in lightning rods and skylights.. And which one with its own marks, cuts and engravings. A story within the story."
Therefore we seek out to discover, to uncover Porto, to find its soul, it's monumentality and its mundane lives. So, we organize city tours every now and then, touching a different corner of the city, a different narrative. Do join us!
You can also find us on facebook @ArchitectoursPorto where we try to publish little albuns and notes of this not too secret city.

Até breve! :D - The Three Valleys of ArrábidaJardim António Cálem, Porto
- - FINAL TOUR -
Now framed by the river and the bridge, the cliffs of Arrábida always beckoned to the Atlantic but have also hidden the city from unwelcomed guests. The name, from old Arab ar-ribāṭ, meaning fortress refers to an ancient hillfort, but also the huge mass of rocky spurs and crags cascading down to the Douro. This is a territory that has been blasted through and circumvented, however, it is a modern affair in the time-out-of-mind narrative of the city. Together we will try to unravel that thread. Join us in another unique journey through the city across the landscape, but across time as well.
As a sense of place tour, rather than something laden with commentary, where we trace the layout, the history, the architecture, the sprawl of the city and what being a Portonian across the centuries, here the narrative is different, it's the streets themselves that are in the limelight, well, better said, the lanes and alleys that make the true underbelly of Porto. Though not pedestrianized, they eschew most vehicle traffic, thus making a very pleasant domestic experience, lined by small lots and all sorts of kinks and nooks, some to be expected others not at all. Although the turning of phrase might be interpreted in manifold ways, this is Porto at its most intimate (urban) experience.
