What weโre about
I started this group to find other African Americans who want more outdoor adventures such as hiking, zip lining, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, bike riding, sailing, hot air balloon rides, bi-plane rides, overnight camp outs, weekend getaways and more. The purpose is to bring together men and women who want to escape the daily humdrum and replace it with some fun, excitement and sometimes new and challenging experiences that are exhilarating, leaving you with lifetime memories. Our adventures will also help build your confidence, help you get or stay fit and healthy, all with a group of friendly and supportive people. The African American Adventurers is for you if you are black and ready to live life to it's fullest! Join us today...

My father is a great tennis player and can teach us a few lessons while also getting in a nice workout (he speaks low so get close to him and ask him to repeat himself if you cannot hear him). His name is James and he is very nice :)
Please bring three tennis balls (a new can would be nice and I suggest writing your name in marker on them).
Please bring your own tennis racquet, tennis shoes, wear sporty clothing, bring a towel, A LOT of water, A LOT of ice. I will also have you all running. If you hit the ball into the net you will have to get the ball and pass it along to your partner and then run back to the base line within five seconds. I will tell you what the base line is. No more than TWO bounces to hit the ball, if you let it bounce three or more times then you have to do five push ups & run and get all the other balls that are around the court :) Sweat it out!!!!
Please no dogs or children under 18. If you are running late please put that in the event chat and/ or comments

**YOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THIS EVENT**
For this Virtual Documentary Night we have voted to talk about the documentary, A Prayer For Compassion. The film follows Thomas Jackson on a quest across America, that ultimately takes him to Morocco for the UN Climate Conference and throughout the Indian subcontinent to ask the questions, โCan compassion grow to include all beings? And can people who identify as religious or spiritual come to embrace the call to include all human and nonhuman beings in our circle of respect and caring and love?โ Again, you must watch the film before attending this event. Here is a link to where you can watch the film for free.
>>Click here to watch A Prayer For Compassion for FREE<<
This is a Voting Night, which means at the end of the night we brainstorm and vote to decide as a group what we will watch the following month, so please come ready with your recommendation. The only requirement is that the film must be available to watch online for free. If you need any ideas, you can search through the Flyers Page on the Community Documentary Night website. It is full of flyers based around certain themes and each flyer is full of documentary posters, which are hyperlinked to where you watch the films for free. Something to consider is that next month is November, which is Native American Heritage Month, and Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th. Check out the Native American Heritage Month flyer, and the Veterans Day flyer if you're interested in recommending a film in honor of these holidays.
Again, you must watch the film on your own BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then have a special guest Q&A, before closing out the night with a vote to decide what film we will watch the following month. The Zoom information is listed below.

Passcode: 861888This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!
