Hello all,
For our long read over the holidays, we will be reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. The story revolves around the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—each with distinct personalities and aspirations. The novel highlights their love, rivalries, and personal growth as they navigate life together. Similar to Jane Austen's novels this novel explores how sisters shape each other's lives, offering a mix of camaraderie, conflict, and guidance. Both author's novels explore universal themes of sisterhood, family, and the push and pull between societal expectations and personal ambitions. These shared themes make them timeless reflections on women’s lives and relationships.
Please put any questions you want to discuss in the comments!
Please note that we will be meeting on a Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm, hoping this time is better for those who work or have weekend obligations.
For February we will be reading Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, we haven't set a date yet.
Jaspeeret will be the next member to suggest a book for our March read.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to seeing you in January:)
