What we’re about
This is a group for anyone who has the desire to explore the many "rails to trails" bike paths and/or other more leisurely bike routes (weekdays, weeknights, and weekends) with a nice group of friends within a reasonable driving distance of the Southern Chester County/Wilmington/Philadelphia base area. Bike pace might vary according to terrain, but basically a nice leisurely safe pace where we can get some great photos or just picnic for a while. Some of these rides include the Schuylkill River Trail (Philadelphia), Perkiomen Trail (Oaks), New Hope area trails, Heritage Rail Trail (York), Struble Trail ( Downingtown ). All members will be able to suggest rides they wish to do by using the suggestion area on the group site. We will also do trips to central and western PA which have many incredible rails to trails rides as well. There will also be weekend bike riding adventures. Some of these include the C&O Canal, Pine Creek Rail Trail (Wellsboro ), and Greenbrier River Trail ( WV ). These will involve bike camping and/or car camping. We will also meet on occasion to plan events and give members a chance to suggest rides they would like to do. Looking forward to meeting other people who are also outdoor biking enthusiasts.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Ride the NJ side of the Delaware River Canal Trail 30 miles F RSVP Required1112 River Rd, Washington Crossing, PA
Join Members and friends from the Lancaster and Wilmington Clubs on a ride on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River canal from Washington’s Crossing Pa to Bulls Island, New Jersey and back.
Leaving the parking lot at 1pm, we will cross bridge into NJ then north to Lambertville, to Stockton, to Bull’s Island. Coming back we will stop in Lambertville at Owowcow ice cream before finishing the ride.
This is a casual ride with no one left behind. Bring plenty of water to drink and a snack to eat when we reach Bull Island. Do not go on this ride unless you promise to stay with the group.
Surface is all crushed stone. Like always a helmet is required and you must have a tube so someone can fix your flat.
Back in Washington’s Crossing, you may choose to go with us to Dominick’s pizza shop at end of our ride.
To eliminate passing around a pen and paper waiver, we encourage membership in our clubs. RSVP also allows us to contact you after the ride if needed. If you do not RSVP you are not covered by the club excess accident insurance policy; only club members who RSVP are covered. Being on Meetup does not mean you are a club member.
