What we’re about
The Books and Booze Folsom book club is for anybody interested in reading books, meeting new people, enjoying a drink, having a good time, and expressing opinions. All books are welcome as are all people. Come join us for an intellectual discussion (or not!) on the book of the month.
Everybody has the ability to plan and schedule their own meetup if they want to. I only plan the monthly meetup as I do not have time to do more than that, so please feel free to schedule your own if you wish!

See all- The Giver by Lois Lowry - #1 @ Fat Rabbit PatioThe Fat Rabbit Public House, Folsom, CA
Hi all. Posting the first meeting for November, The Giver. I am not sure the light will be available for a park meeting, so will start by just posting a single meeting for the Fat Rabbit patio. We can stick to the patio as long as the weather holds. This will be a large Tuesday evening meeting. November is going to have three books, so buckle in! (Two are very short though.)
Next up is The Giver. Written towards a YA audience, it has become a modern dystopian classic in a rather short time. Many of our kids have probably already read it. I feel it would be cool to read it and add it to our collective knowledge. Here is the gist:
"The Giver is written from the point of view of Jonas, an eleven-year-old boy living in a futuristic society that has eliminated all pain, fear, war, and hatred. There is no prejudice, since everyone looks and acts basically the same, and there is very little competition. Everyone is unfailingly polite. The society has also eliminated choice: at age twelve every member of the community is assigned a job based on his or her abilities and interests."
