I am looking forward to co-hosting a Blind Wine Tasting with Tony Merlo. Wines will be supplied from our cellars, and organized into 3 flights of 4 wines from different regions of Italy; Sicily, Campania & Basilicata, and Piedmont. Each flight will be 2 and 2 of different sub-regions that we will all be aware of, but we will be blinded to the particular wines. Planning on; Etna rosso vs Cerasuolo di Vittoria from Sicily, Aglianico from Taurasi vs Vulture, and Nebbiolo from Barolo vs Alto Piemonte. We will sip, discuss, score, and see which wines are preferred!
Please bring four wine glasses, and a snack/appetizer/dessert to share. Location will be at my home in Dedham. Address will be shared the day before, street parking available and walking distance from the Endicott commuter rail T stop. Make sure you can receive emails from Meetup since the details will be provided through there. Also, please update your RSVP if plans change and you are unable to attend, for those on the waitlist.
The start time is 5:00pm on Saturday 18 January for some sparkling/snacks/intros/conversation, and the blind tasting will begin around 5:30-5:45. We’ll ask that those attending also provide $40 (cash or venmo at the door) to help offset the value of the wine served.
Also, just a heads up that my kids (8 & 9 yo) will be around, so please be prepared for and OK with a potential interruption or two. We also have two short haired cats who will stay upstairs.
