As the weather gets colder, the two of us find ourselves turning to hearty wines to pair with comfort foods and meals by the fire. Oftentimes, Grenache-based wines fit the bill.
Grenache/Garnacha/Cannonau is one of the most widely planted red wine grapes in the world. While it is often blended with other grapes, it is the workhorse in many hot dry places such as Spain, Southern France, Sardinia, Australia, and warmer California climes.
Let's get together to explore these wintertime wines by the fire! Look for a bottle of predominantly Grenache wine such as from the southern Rhone Valley (Cote Du Rhone, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Chateauneuf du Pape), Languedoc-Rousillon, Priorat, Catalonia, Sardinia, Australia, or California for all of us to taste and consider.
Please bring: your Grenache wine in a paper wine bag, 4 glasses and some food to share.
Exact address will be sent out a day or two before the tasting. 3 spots at the tasting will be reserved for newcomers who have been to two or fewer tastings.
FYI: I have a small, friendly hypo-allergenic dog.
