Women in Tech – Brighton Web Development Meetup - January 2025
Following on from the success of our 2024 event, we are delighted to be hosting our Women in Tech 2025 event in association with MPB.com.
Tonight we will be having two presentations on Women in Tech issues from Hellen Ward and Kat Janikoun
Talk 1 – Hellen Ward
'Bias in our Products: The Case for Diversity in Tech'
Hellen will discuss the history of women in tech, the early pioneers, and how the industry changed the focus from female to male hiring for software engineering in the 1960s to where we are today. Hellen will also discuss how having a diverse team of software engineers has helped create better products and how companies can improve their attraction for better diversity hiring to create better teams and better software.
Talk 2 - Kat Janikoun
‘Building effective teams: How to get from a group of people to a team in a hybrid-working world’
Kat will discuss her experienced of building and recruiting diverse tech teams that have a productive and happy workforce. Kat will cover what makes an effective team & why it’s important, how to scale your model across multiple teams and the importance of being both resilient and flexible.
*** This event is open to people of every gender, not just women, so please feel free to sign up if you are interested in these topics. ***

Please do not sign up if you cannot come as this will deny somebody else the opportunity of being able to attend. Many thanks
Doors to the event open around 6:30pm and the event starts around 7pm as usual.
Many thanks and we hope to see you there.
