Here is an amazing opportunity to spend TWO FULL DAYS photographing some of the most photo-worthy scenes in New York City with just one night’s hotel stay (if you’re coming from out of town.)
Your instructors will be one of Boston's Finest (photographers) Dmitriy Andreyev and NYC Maven Steve Rosenbach. We'll provide you with both group instruction and individual coaching to meet your needs. To make sure we give everyone plenty of attention, we are limiting this workshop to only 12 participants. This workshop is suitable for any skill level, and smartphone photographers are most welcome.
We will officially start our workshop on Saturday May 3rd at 1 PM at the corner of 8th Avenue and 33rd Street by the entrance to Moynihan Train Hall. From there, we will head to Central Park for a green and blossom-filled walk with many distinct and very photogenic sites within the Park.
Afterwards, we will take a subway to Lower Manhattan to photograph around City Hall, walk over Brooklyn Bridge, with lots of great photo opportunities, and head to the DUMBO Brooklyn waterfront neighborhood for a light dinner. After dinner, it’s just a block or so to the waterfront to photograph the spectacular Lower Manhattan skyline before, during and after sunset ending our day’s events about 9.30 PM.On Sunday morning, we’ll have an optional sunrise photo session at nearby Exchange Place in Jersey City for those hearty souls who are willing to get up in the dark. We can then have group breakfast before we kick off the "official" second day of the workshop.
The full group meets at 9 AM, again at the corner of 8th Avenue and 33rd Street by the entrance to Moynihan Train Hall. Our morning will consist of exploring Little Island, one of NYC’s newest attractions, the High Line, and Hudson Yards, including the very photogenic and recently reopened Vessel. Following lunch at a well-loved diner, we’ll fill the afternoon with a walk in Midtown, including many architectural gems such as Rockefeller Center, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Grand Central Terminal, and many others. The official workshop ends at 5 PM on Sunday. If the group desires, we can have another dinner to discuss "the goods", "the greats", and "the fantastics" of the workshop (and hopefully no "bads").
With our deep knowledge of New York City and skillful plotting of subway trips, we have very efficiently packed a lot of photography and fun into the time available. We don't think there is another two-day workshop that can equal this one.For those needing a hotel, Dmitriy and Steve are staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station. This is an excellent hotel at a price far below its peers in Manhattan while being only a short ride on the PATH subway from NYC. This is our recommendation for lodging if you need it; however, you can stay anywhere and meet us at designated times and places.
