What we’re about
This is a group to connect and network with other people in the East Bay, particularly LGBT-friendly, who are passionate about HR and wish to integrate their work with other progressive values.
There are several other HR Meetups in the area, but they are mostly in San Francisco and focus on the corporate or tech industries. I am looking to meet and share resources with others who are interested in HR from a employee-friendly, diverse, politically progressive perspective, especially with those who work for nonprofits or do other mission-based work.
I envision sharing ideas about diversity (gender/sexuality, race, CLASS), ethics and other conflicts in an HR role, advocating for employees, types of certifications, and so on. An alternative to the corporate-focused groups that I've come across.
