What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a 5K or 10K walk in the Ft. Loudoun State Historic Park in Vonore, TN. This is a picturesque walk along natural trails. We should be able to enjoy the fall foliage along the beautiful Tellico Lake. The walk will start with a brief exploration of the history of this British fort and the Overhill Cherokee Nation. Optional lunch at Cielito Lindo Restaurant (mexican) or Pizzeria Venti following the walk.
When: Monday, November 4th. We will start the 10K at 9:00am and the 5K walk at 10:00am.
Where: We will meet at Ft Loudoun State Historic Park Visitor's Center, 338 Fort Loudoun Rd, Vonore, TN. There are also additional parking areas at nearby picnic pavilions as needed. Restrooms are available at the Visitor's Center.
Details: Both the 5K and 10 walks will be on both natural paths and old roadbeds. There are moderate elevation changes for both walks (400+ ft). Rated a 3C. Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time to register.
We will have an optional lunch at Cielito Lindo Restaurant, 1265 Hwy 411, Vonore TN 37885 following the walk or Pizzeria Venti, 916 Hwy 411, Vonore.
Registration: This is a sanctioned walk and the cost is $3.00, cash, payable to the walk leader at the start of the walk to cover sanctioning and insurance costs.
Dogs are allowed on a leash for the walk, but there is no outdoor seating at the mexican restaurant. Picnic bench at Pizzeria Venti available.
