In the darksome night of despair, my eye turneth expectant and full of hope to the morn of Thy boundless favor and at the hour of dawn my drooping soul is refreshed and strengthened in remembrance of Thy beauty and perfection.” ~ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Bahá’í Prayers, p. 30
When we awake in our complex and often oh so challenging world, where do our minds lead us in those first morning thoughts? As we grapple with a world that is often so full of chaos, of unmet goals, never ending deadlines, tumultuous relationships, constant noise and distraction, and fear-mongering of the future all around us, where do we place our Hope? In what things do we find our Hope being guided towards? How do the sacred Writings of the Bahá’í Faith encourage us to not only maintain our Hope in the Gift of God’s Promises, but also in the Blessing of the Oneness of Humanity? How do we hold steadfast to the marathon journey that is Hope?
Let us explore the concept of Hope, its spiritual and communal equipping on our own lives. Given the knowledge of what Hope is through the Writings of the Bahá’í Faith, let’s discuss how Hope can play a role in our lives as we seek the Oneness of Humanity. Let us renew our focus to patiently and persistently support one another as, together, we continue to move our families, communities, and society toward the Oneness of Humanity within the spiritual truths that have been revealed to us. In keeping with this truth, all views, backgrounds, and beliefs are welcome in this space, and we invite all to share to their comfort and capacity their own wisdom as we explore the Writings together.
Surely a day will come when all thy desires will be attained and God will answer all that which thou hast prayed for in thine heart, and I beg of Him to make all that which thou hast longed for long ago very attainable. Then thine heart will be overflowed with joy on account of such a great bounty. ~ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Tablets of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá v1, p. 122
