Ready for another haunted house? This one is Hangman's House of Horrors. I’ve gone to this one before and it is my favorite one in Texas so far.

This event will be a joint one with the DFW Thrillseekers group.

The location is a 100+ year old military base that was built as a helium production plant in the early 1910's. Many believe this was only a guise and in actuality the site was used as grounds for other top secret purposes. Much of the information about "Helium Production Plant No. 1" is classified, so it all remains a mystery.

Please note:

• The group will meet at 7:45 pm so we can enter right at 8 PM
• Parking is $10 (credit and debit accepted)
• I strongly suggest you purchase your tickets online ahead of time. Their tickets typically sell out fast
• They are open rain or shine. If it rains, their parking lot gets muddy so be prepared
• There are three options for tickets - General Admission, Fast Pass and Timed Entry. I got the timed entry ticket so if you want to go through with the group, you will have to purchase that ticket. The price is $67.19 after taxes and fees
• Trust me, you don't want to wait in the line to get in - it's always super long. Some people said they waited 3+ hours during Halloween

The fall is Renaissance Festival time in Todd Mission again! I know this event is quite a drive for everyone but it’s a ton of fun.

Just a few things:

• This festival is HUGE so be prepared to walk a lot (wear flat, comfy shoes)
• This is open rain or shine. The tickets are date specific unless you buy insurance. I recommend it as it’s only $5 more and allows you to change the date if there is really bad weather. You can also wait and buy your tickets at the gate but they are more expensive
• If you plan on buying tickets at the gate or online the day of, be aware they will now be limiting capacity on a first come, first serve basis. Attendance will be assessed throughout the day to determine opening and closing of ticket sales. Purchasing a ticket in advance will guarantee entrance into the festival. Once capacity is reached, ticket booths and online sales will be shut down. Front gates will remain open for prepurchase ticket holders only.
• I stay all day (9 am to 7 pm). If you want to do the same, I recommend driving down Friday and back up on Sunday. I stay at a hotel but they do have camping sites at the festival if that’s your thing (I’m far too pampered to be a camper)
• Almost all the vendors accept cards but a rare few only accept cash. I don’t carry cash so I don’t shop at those locations but if you choose to, you may want to have cash on hand to avoid ATM service fees
• Despite what people think, you DO NOT have to dress up but you can of you’d like. I just wear jeans and a t-shirt but if you want to dress up, this is the Pirates Adventure weekend but any costume is welcome
• Parking is free but they also offer paid valet and preferred parking. Just be aware that the entrance to each of those closed at 4 pm and if you valet, you have to pick up your keys by that time. Preferred parking can leave through closing.

The group will be meeting at the main gate to the festival around 8:45 am.

The Fort Worth Greek Festival is coming up in November and I thought it would be a great place for us to meet up. Last year we did Saturday evening but this time we will be going Friday during the day for individuals that can't make evening events.

• Admission is free
• They will have greek dancing
• They will have adult beverages along with non-alcoholic ones for those that don’t drink
• They will have authentic Greek meals prepared by their families
• Baked and frozen foods will also be available, including pastries, breads, desserts and ready to heat dishes
• Vendors will be on site for anyone who wants to shop
• You can also take a tour of the Church Sanctuary with Fr. Nicholas

This is a rain or shine event as everything is indoors or under tents.

If parking at the church is full, you can park at North Side High School and take the shuttle to the church.

IMPORTANT: You can only make purchases using credit or debit cards as they don’t accept cash.
