We meet at Roadside parking for Riggs Canyon Trail ( You can easily find this place on Google map) . It is on Finley road , Clayton. Not sure why Google considers this area as Clayton, real Clayton is far away from other side of Diablo. Parking there is limited, so carpool is highly recommended.
Our route connects Morgan Territory and Mount of Diablo state park. It is very remote area with some unpredictable fences and gates, but hike will be only on public land.
Oyster Point tr can be overgrown, so hiking pants and easy jacket are recommended.
There must be a lot wildflowers and fantastic views at Mount Diablo.
Our route: Old Finley rd -> Oyster Point tr -> Oyster Point ( 2113 ft, why it was named as Oyster, maybe in honor of Oyster mushrooms ) -> Black Hawk Ridge rd ( we'll have lunch break somewhere in the end of this road/trail) -> Knobcone Point rd ( it belongs to Mount Diablo park) -> Curry Cave rd ( it must be open to public ) -> Tassajara Creek tr -> Old Finley rd back to cars
Our pace: 2.5 -2.8 per mile. Hike's length and elevation gain is based on Alltrails route estimate. Real one can be longer 1-2 miles.
It is good to have >2.5L water, sturdy hiking shoes , layers clothes , and lunch food.
It is not good idea to join the hike if you don't plan to complete full route.
