Hiking with Friends is a group from Walnut Creek Friends Church and others who enjoy hiking the hills in Contra Costa County and other Bay Area locations. This group is for anyone who enjoys making new friends and exploring the great outdoors while developing stronger relationships with Jesus, nature, and one another.

The peaceful shoreline along Briones Reservoir is the perfect escape from a busy week. The undulating trail provides occasional steep challenges, while the wide path and gentle waters inspire contemplation and thoughtful conversation... or not. But either way, I think you will enjoy this trail.
PLEASE NOTE: My EBMUD permit to this area is limited to 30 hikers. So if you sign up and need to cancel, please drop yourself from the hike so those on the waiting list can join.
This is an easy-to-moderate 5.32 mile out-and-back trek with 522 ft cumulative elevation gain. Here is a map for your reference.
Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on-leash at all times.
Let's meet at the East Bay MUD Bear Creek Staging Area at 1929 Bear Creek Rd in Lafayette at 9:00 am. Coming from Orinda, this is the parking area on the left just after you pass Happy Valley Road on the right (see location map).
Alternatively, you can meet me for carpooling from the Walnut Creek Friends Church back parking lot at 8:30 am. Please confirm to coordinate timing.
Be sure to bring layers, sturdy boots/shoes, water to drink, a snack to eat, and as usual, an attitude for making friends.
