What we’re about
Hiking with Friends is a group from Walnut Creek Friends Church and others who enjoy hiking the hills in Contra Costa County and other Bay Area locations. This group is for anyone who enjoys making new friends and exploring the great outdoors while developing stronger relationships with Jesus, nature, and one another.

This is an easy to moderate 5.8 mile loop with elevation gain of 387 ft. Here is a trail map for reference.
Let’s meet up at the trailhead at 9:30 am. Please arrive on time so we don’t leave without you.
The forecast is for warm and sunny weather, but expect a muddy trail with a few easy creek crossings. Be sure to bring layers to wear, mud-able boots or shoes, water to drink, snacks to eat, and an attitude for making friends.

- Briones Regional Park - Moricich Lagoons and BeyondBriones Regional Park - Briones Road Staging Area, Martinez, CA
It's California Newt mating season in Briones Regional Park and if we're lucky we will see them as we visit the Moricich Lagoons.
This is along the way as we hike the Old Briones Road, Briones Crest, and Valley trails. If the weather is clear, we may also have a glimpse of the snow in the Sierras across the Sacramento Valley.
This moderate loop is 5 miles long and has an elevation gain of 900 feet. Here is a map for your reference. Dogs are allowed but not in the ponds.
Let's meet up at the Briones Road Staging Area at the end of Briones Road (south of Alhambra Valley Road in Martinez) at 9:30 am. Please arrive on time so we don't leave without you. Note: Parking is limited.
