What we’re about

Would you like to earn some money with your writing skills?

Publishing from home via Amazon or Smashwords can prove to be more cost effective and lucrative than publishing through a traditional publisher, who can limit your control over your book covers, your rights to your book, and even fail to make edits to already-published editions when your readers notify you of mistakes.

Royalties from self-publishing via Amazon are 70% versus the < 15% from traditional publishing. You set the price of your own books. You can choose to give specials to your dedicated fans. No printing. No postage.

These days, self-publishing is more about control over your own literary property. With that responsibility comes the added pressure of doing your own marketing. This group will help those who are in this dilemma.

Fiction and non-fiction writers are welcome. All that is required is an entrepreneurial spirit.

Should you be a Traditional Publisher this group will also help with learning to create a platform and market yourself.

Wednesday Night Discussions at the Family Pancake House focus is on marketing, individual plat-forming, social media, technology; the formatting, delivery and marketing of eBooks; and some craft of writing. Previous computer knowledge will be very useful, but we are open to teaching newbies. Skills required include being able to edit document text or HTML files. We also discuss file management, and the concepts of uploading and downloading. There are also many cloud and sync-ing options available now for free (KLAW uses Dropbox).

Artists are part of the group, also learning to market their work. And doing book cover designs.

Tuesday Night Discussion at the Family Pancake House focus on Filmaking.

This group allows us to not only benefit from the knowledge and feedback of all group members. The object of this group is to help each other get through the intricacies of publishing your Books, traditional or self.
