This Meetup group is operated by Friends of Long Island Dog Parks (June 18, 2020), which does business as the Long Island Dog Owners Group (LI-DOG). Our goal is to socialize with other dog owners and organize fun things to do with our dogs including dog-friendly events and enjoying Long Island's beautiful dog-friendly parks and beaches!

LI-DOG is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our next LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at beautiful, dog-friendly Sands Point Preserve, the 216-acre former estate of the Guggenheim family!
Our Pack Walks - guided, group on-leash dog walks - are a great way for both you and your dog to socialize, while enjoying some of Long Island's most beautiful parks!
Please join us for our LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Sands Point Preserve on Sat., June 14th starting at 11 AM. (Please arrive 15 minutes early, so we can start the walk on time**.)**
The Preserve features multiple hiking trails on 200 acres of woods, beautiful lawns, a pond, fields and great views of the Long Island Sound! Please be aware that some of the trails may be a bit steep at times and may have roots and rocks.
We anticipate that the Pack Walk™ will take about an hour, but there will be opportunities to make the walk shorter for those who wish to do so.
After the Pack Walk™, please join us for a bring-your-own picnic lunch! We have reserved the picnic tables, which are in a shaded area, on the great lawn in front of beautiful Hempstead House. Once again, Sands Point Preserve has generously waived the fee to reserve the picnic tables for LI-DOG and our guests!
Both before and after our Pack Walk, your pup can also enjoy making new friends at Charlie's Run, the Sands Point dog run located just north of the big parking lot. The dog run is divided into two areas--one for dogs less than 25 pounds and the other area for all dogs. Dogs must be accompanied by their owners at all times.
PLEASE NOTE: Dogs are not allowed on the beach nor in any of the buildings, the Rose Garden or playground.
Dogs must remain leashed at all times. Please do not use Flexi Leads as we'll be walking in groups and people and dogs can get tangled.
Also, please bring plenty of water for your dog and poop bags as cleanup is a must!
Admission Fee: $15 per car, $4 per walk-in. Sands Point Conservancy members are FREE. Pay at the gatehouse with credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash. If paying by cash, please bring exact change. This fee helps support this beautiful dog-friendly property!

Share a great afternoon with your best canine pal on the lawn at Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore! Welcome Summer 2025 with LI-DOG at our Barks and Brews Fundraiser! Every $20 donation to LI-DOG upon admission receives either a ticket good for a pint of year-round beer or if you don’t drink beer, 2 tickets, each good for 1-soft drink. In addition, the first 24 paid guests get a free commemorative LI-DOG beer mug!
Special Guest for the Pups--Salty Paws East End Long Island will be there with their doggie ice cream truck! Also available for purchase on their truck are doggie donuts, cannoli and pupcakes.
Pizzas, nachos and other yummy snacks for humans are available for purchase inside the brewery.
Also, that day there will be a special Photo Shoot for Pets at Ghost Brewery, which has direct access to/from the back lawn area where we will be. You’ll also be able to take a chance on winning one of the great raffle baskets generously donated by Salty Paws, Great South Bay Brewery, local artists like Alan and Gail Meschkow, area restaurants, and other businesses.
Please come out and support LI-DOG--proceeds support our work to get more access to public parkland and beaches--and meet up with other nice people and their friendly pups!
Please note: Dogs must be vaccinated, leashed and under control, and picked up after at all times.
