I want to be as honest as possible so there are no surprises and wrong expectations.
- This event is not for beginners.
- No Dogs
- No Kids allowed
- This event is not for someone who never Kayaked before.
- This event is not for someone who never operated or set up an inflated Kayak.
- This is not for someone afraid of bugs.
- This is not for someone afraid of Darkness or Dark spaces.
- This is not for someone who doesn't know how to swim.
Breeze terminology
- Light Air: 1-7 mph, upper limit for newbies
- Gentle Breeze: 8-12 mph, small whitecaps, must be experienced Kayaker
- Moderate Breeze: 13-19 mph, must be experienced Kayaker
- Fresh Breeze: 20-24 mph, challenging, experience required
- Strong Breeze: 25-31 mph, paddling extremely difficult
Overview
- You must have Kayaking experience to join this event (Kayaked at least once)
- I have a couple of kayaks for rental: $50-$75/day (you must let me know at least 1 day ahead)
- Drive time: 1 hr each way
- Restrooms (Onsite at the launching station)
What to Bring
- $10 for your driver for travel expenses
- Drinks (2 Gallons of Water for sure)
- Snacks
- Camera
- Swimsuit/towel
- Water shoes
- Jacket/windbreaker (cooler at night)
- Drybag
- LED safety lights: front-white/green; rear-red (to be seen at night)
- Headlamp
- Life vest(s) required by federal law
- Old towel to wipe paddle craft dry
Carpool
We will arrange carpools and leave 10 minutes after the hour. To minimize the number of cars, you will ride with 3-4 people in your carpool.
Note: If you prefer to meet us at Willow Beach, meet us at the dock between restrooms and restaurant area approx.after an hour after this meeting time. (let me know in advance or be "no show"). Rangers require setup in the parking lot or on sidewalk, NOT on the boat launch ramp. Park your vehicle in a convenient space, carry gear to setup area, lock car before launching. Map/Directions to Willow Beach Launch Area.
