What we’re about
"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer. ” Rainer Rilke - 1903
With those beauty-full thoughts in mind, as penned down by Bohemian Poet Philosopher Rainer Maria Rilke 120 years ago in Switzerland, "Live the Questions" explores a rich variety of questions: fun, serious, philosophical, dramatic, crazy, risqué, practical, heartfelt, etc. I have collected dozens of books with questions during the last decades, in half a dozen languages (the books on the table are all in English). Members have brought new ones also, wherefore THANKS. During a Live the Questions meet-up, as "Questioneers", we go around the table and everyone picks a question at random from one of the books that looks good to them, or speaks to them if you will. We like to let fate decide a bit, so "shopping" around for just that perfect question is discouraged. Most often questions are put on our Path for good reasons! The person then answers the question, but can always "pass" if it were too uncomfortable, or we can come back to them later if they so desire. If you have a special question you've been pondering, you are welcome -- and even encouraged -- to bring it to the "Questioneer table" if the time & group feels right to you for that... It's all very congenial, and people chime in left and right which creates the philosophical atmosphere, sometimes "lite" and sometimes it goes very deep. The focus is on "genuine-ness" and everyone having a fair chance to talk, with nobody dominating the dialog, which often happens in meet ups... We very much aim for everyone to have a voice in this group. Our willingness to answer is the only limitation. There are good laughs, deep thoughts, and regularly rather surprising answers also, which is just fine and adds to the special atmosphere. Sometimes only one or a few deep questions get tackled, and other times lighter questions and answers start flying around the table rapidly. We go with the Questions...
Sincerely,
gerard
