With 1500 acres to roam, Princess Place is truly a gem of accessible Florida wilderness and history. We will explore a combination of trails and sights, some dating back to 1886 when Henry Cutter first acquired the property. The stories include an 18th century Spanish king, a carpenter named Francisco Pellicer and an exiled Russian prince. We'll also learn about some of the flora and fauna that thrive in the various ecosystems represented here.
The hike will take over 2 hours and cover a total of 3 miles more or less. Admission to the preserve is free and it is easy to find. Bring a bag lunch or snack if you care to and we will meet back at the picnic tables for lunch after the hike. A hat is recommended. The trails we cover are over easy terrain. Princess Place is a well-maintained county park with clean "real" restrooms.
