Join fellow scuba divers for the Edmonds Fishing Pier Cleanup. These are fun dives and you're doing a great service for our fishy friends by removing fishing gear, bikes, cell phones, plastics, gold rings (yea - that happened!) etc.
Timing: Meeting at 10:00am for a dive briefing around 10:30am (must attend this to participate) and splashing around 11:00am for a ~1hr dive. We'll take a break, refill tanks at UWS, and help pick and sort our debris. Second briefing is planned for 12:30pm and splash around 1:00pm. After helping with debris sorting and site cleanup, you should be out by 3:00pm or earlier.
Given the coordination of closing the fishing pier - the timing is not flexible so if you're late to the first briefing you can help on shore and dive the second one. Please come for whatever you have time for.
Skill level: shore support (all)
Divers (Advanced Open Water)
Facilities: bathrooms, parking, restaurants near by
Special considerations:
I'm looking for volunteers to run the process of sorting through the debris and giving the fishing gear back to the fisher-people - please message me or volunteer in the comments below.
If you do find something you really like you're more than welcome to keep it.
Special gear: shears / cutting tool, gloves, closed toe shoes (for shore support)
Max depth: ~60'
Anticipated currents: slight current throughout the dives - hopefully enough to clear out the silt from mucking up the bottom.
Hazards: boat traffic, sharp objects, poor viability, entanglement, task loading, variable buoyancy.
