California Writers Club members write novels, short stories, screenplays, poetry, nonfiction articles, books, and more. Established in 1909, the mission is to educate writers of all genres and levels of expertise in the craft and marketing of their work.
The Orange County chapter is one of the biggest, most active branches in the state. Meetings are held monthly to educate our community of writers about the craft and business of writing.

He’s written several award-winning teleplays, including an unproduced comedy pilot, Isabelle’s Starting to Happen, that took two Grand Prize awards. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two adult children. When not working on a TV gig or writing, Paul can often be found mountain biking or hiking SoCal’s trails, still valiantly trying to get in his 10,000 steps. The California Writers Club has been uniting and inspiring writers for over 100 years. Meetup.com is a basic introduction to this established off-line group. The membership is comprised of local writers, more than half of whom have published or Amazon self-published books, sharing inspiration, motivation, information, and resources. This local writers group is a great place to become an active participant in the OC writing community.

■ 9:30am - 11:00am Guest SpeakerIllustrator, cartoonist, and educator Larissa Brown strives to create joyous and playful imagery while teaching students young and old how to do the same. After earning a BFA in Fine Arts at California State University, Fullerton, Larissa continued her education at the Animation Guild and The Animation Academy. She later returned to CSUF and the Animation Academy to begin her career as an educator.
Larissa is the founder of OC Art Studios, an art enrichment company that she began from her garage teaching a handful of students which grew to include a dozen instructors teaching at elementary schools all across Orange County. Over the course of the pandemic, she shifted from teaching young students in the classroom to developing portfolio preparatory courses online for high school and college aged students. She’s offered over 500 full scholarships to Black art students all over the world and has partnered with Twitter to offer another 100 mentorships to Black artists.
She worked as a Character Designer for Nickelodeon’s Rocket Power and Rugrats TV shows and has illustrated almost a dozen books for Nickelodeon’s licensed properties, including Rugrats All Grown Up, The Wild Thornberrys, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Her debut graphic novel, Blake Laser, is an epic 24th century science fantasy graphic novel about a biracial girl who is unaware of her genius and has to save the planet from aliens.
