What we’re about

Orienteering Cincinnati is a non-profit that puts on events in parks and on private property throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area. These events provide the opportunity to work on navigational skills while enjoying the great outdoors. Each has courses designed for beginners and experienced orienteers. Come alone, with a friend or a group of friends to family.

This activity is for the adventurous person. It's like geocaching or Pokemon Go without the GPS. Each course has various checkpoints that participants must visit, in order, and the event is timed.

Participants are very diverse. Men, women, children. You'll see husbands & wives, boyfriend & girlfriends, friends. Runners, walkers, and speed-walkers. Beginners, intermediates and experts (one young man is on the USA National Orienteering Team). What everyone one has in common is a desire for mental and physical stimulation in the great outdoors.

There is a small fee for participation and 100% of the funds we collect go toward putting on events. Instruction is also available at each event and we also supply all the needed equipment.

These events typically have a "start window" of 2-3 hours. During that time participants start courses. Each course typically takes an or so hour to complete. Multiple courses can be completed at each event. We use electronic timing equipment and maps are made by some of the world's best mappers.

As this is an all-volunteer organization we always welcome helpers. Feel free to help pick up the control markers at the end of the event if you have extra time.
