This one will lead us to The Old Dutch Doctor Shelter (Lean too)
Arriving on time is important we would like to hike in together – two-way radios are becoming standard pcs of equipment so please get one, contact Jim for designated group frequency.
This class will be great for beginners we'll be going through a few simple knots and how to use knots in difficult situations. There will be other task, set but we will be able to accomplish all if we work together😊
Jobs will be assigned, and we will learn our rules to accomplish a single task teamwork is going to be the name of the game on this one.
Bring min 50 feet of cordage and a tarp. You can use tents or hammocks or sleep in what you build if you're up for the challenge

Knots we’ll be teaching:
Overhand knot.
Truckers Hitch
Bowlin knot.
Ridge lines - great for emergency shelters.
Prusik Knot.
Taut line hitch.
Daisy chain.

Everyone is responsible for their own food and hydration needs. Pack your filters and water bladders.

Anniversary Hike

Join us for a friendly and easy day hike. We can discuss which trail the group is up for but considering they are easy the blue loop is my choice (a lot cooler trail as well). There is a small beach and lake at the center of the park, with basketball courts if you would like to stay after.
What you will need:
Small day bag.
At least a liter of water.
Small snack.
Comfortable hiking shoes.

There is a small parking lot right at the start of the blue trial (which is pinned), it gets packed sometimes. If so we will meet at the big parking lot near the beach/hooks lake a little further down the road. Any questions shoot us a message or post on the board.

My plan is to go to Big Ed's right after for a late lunch

Alder Lake - Cold Weather Gear Test
See Trish or Mike at Campmor 810 Rt 17 North Paramus NJ for the best gear at the best prices.

In the western Catskill Mountains, near Margaretville and the Pepacton Reservoir is Alder Lake, and old resort lake that is now State Forest, and offers primitive camping around the lake. It is backpack only in, however it is a short walk from the parking area to the approximately 7 designated primitive campsites around the lake.
The 77-acre man-made lake, is handsomely surrounded by a high mountains of the Mill Brook Range, and other unnamed mountains. It is a 6-mile hike to the east to get to Balsam Mountain, home of a fire tower.
The 1.5 mile trail around the lake has several interesting views of the lake.

This is a cold weather outing the following gear list is needed
-zero degree sleep system - tent - hammock - hot tent you choose
-warm clothing (layers speak with an organizer if you’re unsure)
-knife
-saw
-head lamp
-2 way radio
-water filter and bladers
-gas stove
-traction devices for your boots
-your favorite food
