What we’re about
As we face energy, climate and economic challenges, permaculture offers one of the best "tool kits" for moving in a positive and productive direction: resilient communities full of creative abundance. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, there is some part of permaculture that will make sense for your life and your relationship to the landscape where you live and work. Join us in exploring the possibilities!
We cover topics such as (but not limited to) edible landscapes, gardening, farming, regenerative practices, renewable energy, green building, local currency, rainwater harvesting, composting, mushrooms, local food, forest gardening, herbalism, "green" living, sustainable economic systems, conservation, community-building, relocalization, transition towns, and more!
Also make sure to sign up for the Hudson Valley Permaculture listserv (click here).

See all- The Power of Native Plants with Avalon BungeROSENDALE COMMUNITY CENTER, Rosendale, NY
Avalon Bunge of Partners for Climate Action and Pollinate Hudson Valley will share her considerable knowledge of and love for native plants in a beautiful photo presentation. She will explain the important services that native plants provide for pollinating insects and for songbirds, as well as how they can work in diverse landscapes to add beauty. Many native plants can be used for food or medicine, are adaptable to adverse conditions and thrive without much care.
Avalon manages an extensive landscape in Columbia County, including native meadows, forests, and deer populations; additionally, she has over a decade of farm work experience in New York and Canada.
At Partners for Climate Action, Ms. Bunge oversees PollinateHV and the Ecological Restoration Grant program. Prior to working at PCA, she directed a climate resilience education initiative through NOAA’s Environmental Literacy Program on coastal ecology.
Holding an MS in ecosystem restoration from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and a BA in geology from Colgate University, she is currently completing a PhD in restoration ecology at Antioch University.
We are fortunate to have Avalon as a guest speaker; her love of her work and wealth of knowledge are readily apparent.
