What we’re about
This is a group for nature lovers in the greater Sacramento Valley area. We are hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers, equestrians, volunteers and Docents who love the lands that the Sacramento Valley Conservancy protects or is in the process of protecting. We LOVE and appreciate nature and these sensitive resources. Join us at Deer Creek Hills, Camp Pollock or Rancho Seco.
Due to registration limitations on Meetup, we often have outside registration links. Your RSVP on Meetup does NOT necessarily secure your registration.

🔍 Unearthing the Past: Archeology Hike at Deer Creek Hills
Saturday, May 3rd 🕘 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM📍 Meet at Deer Creek Hills Nature Preserve
Step back in time and walk in the footsteps of ancient peoples during this fascinating 3-mile guided hike through Deer Creek Hills Preserve. Discover clues that may connect the mysterious Paleolithic inhabitants of 12,000 years ago to the seasonal travelers of just a few centuries past.
Explore a landscape layered with stories—from early nomadic hunters and Native Californian village life to the rush of Gold Seekers. We’ll uncover evidence of the past etched into these hills, and examine real artifacts from nearby areas that help bring history to life.
