What we’re about
Welcome to Adventure People! This group is for everyone who loves to hike, kayak, rock climb, and anything that gets us outdoors. We have a great team of organizers who schedule local outdoor activities, social events, and weekend camping trips. We also do small group trips to destinations around the world.
Some of the things we've done include watching the Northern Lights in Iceland, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, rappelling down waterfalls in Costa Rica, trekking on a glacier in Argentina, hiking the W Trek in Chile, climbing a volcano in Hawaii, visiting the country's national parks, exploring the world's most spectacular caves in Vietnam, salsa dancing lessons in Cuba, and that's just a few.
Adventure People all have one thing in common, we want to travel the world and have fun doing it. We're explorers, not tourists. Regardless of where you go and what you do, it's the people you share the experience with that you'll remember the most. What you'll find in Adventure People is that we're a fun, active, adventurous, welcoming group of friends. By joining our community and participating in our local and international trips, you'll not only have a new group of friends but new travel companions with whom you'll want to share more experiences. That's why you'll always see repeat travelers on all of our trips!

Let's start the year off with a 7-mile out-and-back hike! I'm committing to the 52 Hike Challenge this year, so I'll be posting many of those here. These are social hikes and I'll be keeping the group size small (less than 10 people) because it's just more manageable. Please only join those hikes that you are fit enough to do at a moderate pace. All data comes from AllTrails (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/jesusita-trail?u=i&sh=4hrlpt).
Jesusita Trail
Out & Back
Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 7 mi
Elevation Gain: 1,574 ft
Estimated Time: 3 h 40 min
Meeting Place: At the trailhead https://maps.app.goo.gl/D9hftygtHnhd2BQy6Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 40 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.
Follow the Jesusita Trail starting near Lauro Canyon Reservoir up to Inspiration Point. While it is uphill on the way to the overlook, the trail is wide and has good footing, making it a great spot for trail running. From the top, there are views looking out towards the Pacific Ocean. Oak trees along the way also provide shade on hot days.
This trail runs through private property. Please be sure to respect all signage and stay on the designated trail.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please message me if planning to bring your dog.

Romero Canyon Trail
Loop
Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 6 mi
Elevation Gain: 1,499 ft
Estimated Time: 3 h 17 min
Meeting Place: At the trailhead https://maps.app.goo.gl/JBwxmTNqQCzZ7MUT9Enjoy this 6.0-mile loop trail near Santa Barbara, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 17 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
This hike has been severely impacted by fires and storms in recent years. As a result there are often lots of downed trees, washed out areas, and the trail often needs to be repaired. There are also rattlesnakes in this area, so hiking off trail is not recommended. An early start is recommended since it is very sunny in most parts of the route.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please message me if planning to bring your dog.

https://adventurepeople.net/travel-club-trips/ - Baja Whale ExpeditionNeeds location
Every year, from November to April, the southern Baja peninsula is a playground for gray whales, humpback whales, and whale sharks. The gray whales & humpback whales migrate more than 10,000 miles between their summer feeding grounds in the Arctic and the coastal lagoons of the southern Baja peninsula, where the females give birth. Meanwhile, on the opposite coast, the Sea of Cortez is a feeding ground for the elusive whale shark who migrate there to feed on plankton. Whale watching is a unique experience in Southern Baja and perhaps the most extraordinary wildlife encounter you’ll ever experience!
