HIKE: 4.8-mile loop trail near Murrieta, California. Generally considered a moderate route, it takes an average of 1 h 43 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and, and it's unlikely we'll encounter many other people. — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.
STARTING POINT: 39400 Clinton Keith Rd., Murrieta, CA 92562 (Santa Rosa Plateau Visitor Center. We will depart promptly at 8AM from the cement area in the center of the parking lot.
PARKING: There is a parking lot (no charge for parking but a $6 fee for using the trails). There is a QR code to pay but I have never been able to get cell service to use it. If visitor center is open (TUE-SAT 9-4) one can pay the $6 inside, OR one can put $6 cash in the RED BOX in the parking lot. Based on the honor system and it is a good thing and good karma to help the park service maintain the trails we use and enjoy.
COME PREPARED: Wear comfortable hiking shoes or tennis shoes with treads. Dress in layers and check the weather for the day. Bring water (1 liter or what you are used to), bring a snack or bar. Sunglasses, hat, sunscreen. Poles are optional and probably not necessary for most hikers. This is a relatively easy hike if you are used to hiking.
