What we’re about
Get out and about at the weekends in glorious Surrey countryside . The idea of these walks is to have a great day out with good company . We hope to offer a good selection of walks from easy sociable walks to longer distances . Some walks will incorporate a Surrey pub for lunch , some will be picnic lunches and others will include interesting places to visit .

This is a fairly gentle circular walk of around 5 miles - not too hilly - in and around Charlwood, RH6. Despite Charlwood's proximity to Gatwick Airport, this walk is tranquil.
There is ample parking in Ifield Road RH6 0DG - preferably near to:
///kite.catch.incomes
https://w3w.co/kite.catch.incomesWe'll start by briefly visiting the Church of Saint Nicholas; amongst other interesting features, it has 13th century wall paintings in the south isle of the nave.
We'll walk past a property with a couple of jet planes and a couple of helicopters in the garden - it's a Gatwick thing!
We'll walk through Glover's Wood which is famed for its bluebells. From the wood there are views to the Lowfield Heath windmill; it's not often open to the public but well worth a visit on a rare open day.
All of the above is on the first half of the walk! On the second half we have the prospect of seeing a rare plant (known as the 'living fossil' due to it having been around for 100m years and reproducing by spores rather than by seed). We'll also see a few (but definitely not all) of the approx. 85 - yes eighty five - houses in this tiny village that are Grade 1 or Grade 2 listed; some really are a sight to behold.
Meetup fee of £4 please. Preferably no dogs.
We finish very close to https://www.thehalfmooncharlwood.net/ - ideal for a drink and maybe a meal!
I look forward to seeing you on Apr 27. If you have any questions, add them to this thread or contact me directly on 07596090066.
Best wishes, Tim
