Join us and get together with other LA nerds, geeks, and dorks who meet up for engaging and stimulating events and gatherings.

Some of the most popular events, among newbies & regulars alike, are:

Game Fest & Potluck - monthly gaming & potluck extravaganza

The Geeky Salon - monthly gatherings of deep discussion on various stimulating topics

Girls“R”Us Game Night! - a game night for girls only!

Westside Geeks Theatre - quaint, private 10-person gatherings featuring diverse movie showings

Table O' Bookworms - gatherings to discuss select books and readings over yummy food in different eateries

WGN Socials - These are social gathering events simply for mingling and socializing and they involve a themed potluck food. For example, "WGN Cookie Social." "WGN Chili Social," "WGN Chips 'N Salsa Social," etc.

Ready! Set! Play!: Board Game Night (R!S!P! or RSP) - game store housed board game night taking place in the Northridge area at The Game Ogre for those who live in or closer to the valley or are willing to drive out to the valley from the westside for a long and late night of board and console gaming.

Get Ready, Get Set, Game! - This is basically a westside version of Ready! Set! Play! for those that prefer and can make a westside event at Next-Gen Games.

KiddieLand - fun, unique, nostalgic events that totally bring out the inner child in us all!

Some Kind of Wonderful - events that relate to romance, being single and quirky/geeky love opportunities

Foodgasmic Adventures - meetups that bring together foodies, gourmands, and culinary geeks, in the group, for food and drink activities and events.

Whip it Good! - events centered around physical fitness activities such as curious and scenic hikes and walks in and around LA.

I Got Game! - events centered around themed gaming nights of all kinds (cards, trivia, console, board, etc.)

Oh, For Art's Sake! (soon!) - features events such as art showings, art galleries, art walks, figure drawing/sketch events, paint & draw sessions, botanical gardens, museum trips, and more

These are themed event series that each present new activities on a monthly basis.

Do you know if you are a geek, nerd or a dork? Each one of these terms has its own definition, although some people might define them differently or feel they represent more than one.

Members should be 18+, respectful, active, enthusiastic, non-flaky, and most of all, willing to have a lot of fun and meet new people!

Members are welcome to co-host and suggest a new meetups for the group if there are ideas for events. Think of creative, unique, and super gladdening things to do with a twist of geekiness, nerdiness, and dorkiness.

Please take note of the new 3-strike No Flake policy for this group (freshly implemented on Dec. 22nd 2012 and strictly enforced):

Under each member’s name is a title section. By default, it is usually left blank by organizers.

The system below is used to keep track of flaking:

If a member flakes out ONCE, I will place one “X” in that title spot under their username.

If a member flakes out TWICE, I will place two X’s in that title spot, “XX.”

If a member flakes out THREE times, I will boot them from the group.

If a booted member wishes to return, they will have to reapply and pay a $10 donation fee to the group. The donation icon is visible on the front page of the group on the left sidebar near group and meetup stats.

This is fair and reasonable, certainly not draconian, because you get a couple of chances to flake. Who can ever sensibly argue that constant flaking should be OK or tolerable??

And before you become a flake, you can always cancel an RSVP in a timely manner to avoid any of this and to further preserve your two "get out of jail free cards" for real emergencies.

If you voluntarily sign up to the group, thus becoming a member, which means you WANT to participate in upcoming events, then I figure you can certainly find ways to communicate with the group and its organizer(s) about the status of your RSVPs.

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
