Talk: Old School Development: How AI is Changing the Developer Role
Generative AI is reaching a point where it is capable of driving, to a reasonable degree, the auto generation of code, testing and documentation. The natural fear is that the machines are taking over and a developer is made redundant. If anything, this is not a paradigm shift, it's a time machine back to old school development.
---Speaker 2: Gary Meehan, Founding Engineer Axe, Co-Founder and former CTO of Retrograde
Talk: AI for Accessible Politics: Chatting with Manifestos and Beyond
In the lead-up to the recent Irish General Election, he developed an AI-powered tool designed to make political manifesto documents more accessible and engaging. By enabling users to have natural language conversations with these documents, the tool aims to simplify complex information and empower voters to make more informed decisions.
During this talk, he’ll walk through how the tool was built, the challenges of applying AI to politics, and its potential to transform the way we interact with political content.
If time allows, he’ll also share insights into his News 2025 project, which leverages large language models (LLMs) to analyse news headlines and explore their potential impact on our emotional states.
