What we’re about

COME LAUGH WITH US

Join us for some fun yoga laughter exercises to improve your health and happiness!

Laughter Yoga clubs are social community clubs, where people of all backgrounds and cultures can join together through laughter.

What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh for no reason without relying on jokes or comedy.

How do you practice it?
We initiate laughter as an exercise in a group but with eye contact and childlike playfulness. It
soon turns into real and contagious laughter.

The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter if done with willingness. You get the same health benefits.
Laughter Yoga was started by a medical doctor, Dr. Madan Kataria, from India with just five people in a Mumbai park in 1995. Today there are more than 6000 Laughter Yoga Clubs in more than 72 countries.

Laughter Club is a community event supported only by donations. It is free to anyone who wishes to attend. Donations gladly accepted to support the Buzz Ware Village Center.

Come laugh with us!

Please bring a water bottle.

We thank you for arriving 10 mins. early to sign in and so that we can start on time.

More info written by Alexa Fong Dubray, Laughter Yoga Master Trainer and Laughter Embassador:

Laughter Yoga is celebrating it's 24th Anniversary this year and is practiced in 108 countries and at over 16000 laughter clubs.

LY is the combination of laughter exercises + deep yoga breathing. Laughter Yoga was created in 1995 by cardiologist Dr. Madan Kataria and his yoga instructor wife, Madhuri.

NO YOGA POSES- but don't worry, this is still considered an aerobic workout. That said, all the exercises are very easy to follow, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. You will burn calories, you will give your diaphragm a good work out and you will leave feeling great, no exaggeration.

We practice laughing for the sake of laughing to benefit our health. We don't use comedy or jokes to provoke the laughter. Instead, you will be guided by a Laughter Yoga professional into following some fun & simple laughter exercises which include clapping, chanting, singing, dancing, gibberish and of course, LAUGHING. We will have you giggling in no time. Everyone feels uplifted and energized after our sessions.

Laughter reduces the stress, anxiety and depression. Laughter opens up the blood vessels, increases your oxygen levels to the body and brain and boosts the immune system.

Did you know that:

- the Navy uses LY to reduce post traumatic stress syndrome?

- Cancer patients at the Mayo clinic use LY to build up their immunities and to increase T-cells?

- Research at U of MD Medical Center has shown that LY increases the net oxygen to the body, which expands the arteries to help blood flow, helping to regulate blood pressure?

- Laughter brings us the the present moment and helps to reduce chronic pain

-LY helps us face life's challenges and helps us build positive behaviors and resilience?

Get strong, get laughing!

Laughter Yoga is non-religious and non-political.

Laughter Club meetings are open to all- ages 16 and up.

If you are unable to perform standing exercises, you can do them seated and we will come to you.

No experience necessary. Everyone is welcome. No yoga poses.
