Active/Athletic Singles 40s/50s/60s
I am organizing a new group for ATHLETIC, SINGLE, FUN, OUTDOORSY, individuals that like to enjoy the outdoors in what some people say is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Let’s be thankful and explore together!
The goal is to provide adventures that allow people to get to know each other and help people discover new places and ideas. Individuals will connect through fun, shared experiences either in person or on-line (depending on COVID restrictions).
Activities can include (but aren't limited to): hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, travel, happy hours, dinner parties, BBQ's, breweries, comedy clubs, etc. Online activities may include slide shows of personal adventures to inspire people to get out and enjoy.
Our hikes and adventures can fit within a variety of distances, skill levels, elevation gains etc. I am recovering from an injured hip so outings that I lead will be limited in intensity for now. However, other members will be encouraged to become trip leaders to organize trips and activities that they think will be fun for you and others.

- Please be respectful (update your RSVP if your plans change) when you RSVP to events especially if there is a limited number of spots available. This will be enforced and multiple no-shows will be removed from the group!
-Please do not join this group unless you are single! This is not the place for open relationships or married people looking for infidelity.

Volunteer at Freeport Wood Bank
Location not specified yet** LAST-MINUTE OPPORTUNITY** Ever heard of a wood bank? It's like a food bank....but with wood! The Freeport Wood Bank cuts, splits, stacks and delivers wood to families in the towns of Freeport, Durham and Pownal who need help heating their homes in the wintertime. The temperatures are dropping and the need is rising, and they are always looking for volunteers.
I'm putting together a small group of volunteers for this Saturday October 18th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Come for a couple of hours to help out if you can! Space will be limited to 6 people for this. I'll also set up a separate post-stacking beer-and-pizza event just down the road at Maine Beer Company for those who want to unwind afterwards (or those who might skip the wood-stacking part and just head straight to the beer and pizza).
The address is 100 Hedgehog Mountain Road in Freeport. Look for the Transfer Station (set of red buildings) on your right. Just past that, you'll see a small green "Freeport Wood Bank" sign just before a dirt road you follow to the right for a few hundred yards to get to the spot where the work is done. Those participating will need to sign a liability waiver when you arrive. Most of us will stack, but if anyone is experienced working a splitter let me know via private message as it will help us prep. Wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves if you have them (though they usually have spares to share). I've done this a few times now and have had a really positive experience.

Post wood-stacking Beer & Pizza at Maine Beer Company
Maine Beer Company, 525 U.S. 1, Freeport, ME, USEnjoy excellent beer and delicious wood-fired pizza at Maine Beer Company on this Saturday October 18th from 12:30 - 2:30. Whether you sign up for the volunteer wood-stacking event that immediately precedes this or not, this is a great place to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. It's a simple get-together to enjoy some good food and drink and conversation.

Toby McAllister and the Sierra Sounds at Oxbow Brewing
Oxbow Brewing Company, 51 Washington Ave, Portland, ME, USCome join us for some great Maine music and enjoy some top-notch Maine beer!
- Toby McAllister and the Sierra Sounds are at Oxbow Brewing in Portland on Friday November 14th.
- Hope to see a bunch of folks there - it promises to be a fun evening!
- Show starts at 8. I'll be there by 7:30 to hold a table or two. I'll aim to be at the tables on the left as you walk in.
- Toby will start after an opening act.

- If you want to get a sense of Toby and the band, you can find him/them on all of the streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music etc) and he's got a song playing on rotation now on WCLZ (Bottom of a Bottle). I've known Toby for quite a while and his shows are always high energy and a lot of fun. Toby and his band are great and they sing a mix of original and covers.
Oxbow Brewing is at 48 Washington Ave in Portland. It's a bit set back from the road and there's a DuckFat Fries shack (which also has other food) on your right as you're walking in. Look for parking on Washington Ave and the side streets nearby.
