What we’re about
This group is operated by Adirondack Mountain Club, Inc. (5/5/2024).
ADK - Genessee Valley (ADK-GVC) is a chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club and welcomes members from all areas of Central and Western New York.
All across New York State, members of the Adirondack Mountain Club work together to conserve natural places, help others discover nature, and get outdoors to play. The Genesee Valley Chapter welcomes members throughout the Rochester metropolitan area and the surrounding five-county area of upstate New York.
Our club has over 1,500 members and is active in local conservation efforts, trail maintenance, and hosts many outings including hiking, bicycling, paddling and our Annual Outdoor Expo. We meet monthly on the second Wednesday from September through May. Our meetings include an educational session and main program featuring local conservationists, naturalists, adventurers, and leaders.
Membership in the Adirondack Mountain Club is not required but encouraged. To join, visit https://adk.org/product/membership/. Be sure to select "Genesee Valley" as your Chapter.
For our hikes, all registrants will be placed on the waitlist and screened for recent experience. All participants will be required to sign a standard liability waiver at the trailhead or meeting place. Preference is given to ADK members.
ADK-GV is regulated by and subject to the Articles of Incorporation and By-laws of the Adirondack Mountain Club, Inc., and organized under Section (501) c (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

See all- Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Durand Eastman Park-Fall Foliage HikeParking lot, Rochester, NY
Note - This hike is cross-posted from the ADK-GVC Event Calendar:
ADK-GVC CalendarTwo-hour hybrid hike split between a 1-hour loop at a slower pace around Eastman Lake, stopping at Owen's Point and ending at The White Lady's Castle across from the parking lot, then a moderate section at a faster pace along the west side of Durand Lake, cutting across the arboretum to the trail along Sweet Fern Rd for the rest of the 2-hour hike. Hopefully we'll still have some fall colors. Meet at 9:45am in the Durand Eastman parking lot D, farthest east (43.236498, -77.557617) on Lakeshore Blvd across from Log Cabin Rd (about 1702 Lakeshore Blvd., Rochester, NY, 14617) for a 10:00am hike start. Please dress for the weather, wear boots or trail shoes with good traction and bring some water to drink. Hiking poles would be useful on the steeper sections. Contact Jim Bishop at adk.gvc.trpldr@gmail.comwith any questions. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Our hybrid hikes consist of 2 loops that allow us to drop off hikers who prefer a 40-minute to 1-hour easier hike at a slightly slower pace with less elevation change, then continue for the rest of the 2 hours at a faster pace with some short climbs. This allows all of us to keep hiking together, when some of our old and new friends need to shorten their hike or some are just starting back hiking after a time off or recovering from surgery.
You must read and sign the “club’s release of liability form” which will be available at the parking lot.
NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT without signing a LIABILITY RELEASE FORM.
