What we’re about
Welcome all speculative fiction writers! Whether you write science fiction, fantasy, horror, magical realism, or genre mashups of all of the above, this is the group for you. All experience levels are welcome.
The focus of this group is critique and discussion of works in progress, with writers submitting fiction (novel excerpts, short stories, flash pieces, etc.) for workshop.
Submissions may be up to 9500 words. The emphasis is on prose fiction, but related materials are welcome. Anything to help advance the writer's goals!
Critique format is round robin, with the writer opening and ending the session, but otherwise giving the floor to attendees for sharing their insights, positive and critical, but always delivered in a professional and graceful manner. After each participant gives their "big picture" feedback, the floor is open for more general discussion.
In the interest of building community, discretionary time may be occupied with "write-ins" (co-working sessions), conversation, and/or book clubs.
