See all- Hike Mounts Pierce and Eisenhower, NHNeeds location
We will be peak bagging on the Presidential Range by hiking to the summits of Mounts Pierce and Eisenhower. These two peaks have 360 degree views and both have a gorgeous view of Mount Washington.
We will use the historic Crawford Path, the oldest maintained and continuous hiking path in the US (c.1819), to reach these peaks. First, we will summit of Mount Pierce, which is 4,310 feet and just above the Mizpah Springs AMC hut. We will continue approximately 1.5 miles on to 4,780 foot Mount Eisenhower. This peak is marked by a flat plateau and a once towering rock cairn that is now much smaller. The out and back hike is 9.4 miles and gains roughly 3,200 feet of elevation. Pace is expected to vary 1.2-2.2 mph depending on terrain and conditions. This hike is open to all who qualify, no need to be an AMC member. Online registration is necessary. Due to winter like conditions, those who register are required to have recent hiking experience of similar difficulty. Those joining this hike should be in good cardiovascular health and be prepared to be wet/cold for up to 7-10 hours, though poor weather will cancel. Candidates can expect additional screening to ensure this hike is a good fit.
