In her talk "Postgres & Python: Gel", Emma Saroyan will show a new way of building an app using Gel, an open source data platform built on top of Postgres.
In his talk "Life, Universe, Python inside PostgreSQL", Vladimir Poghosyan will provide a hands-on technical introduction to PL/Python. Whether you're a backend engineer curious about database scripting, or a data scientist looking to bring Python closer to your data, this session will walk you through PL/Python’s real-world use, its strengths, and its limitations.
Technical talks, Q&A, Networking, and of course, free pizza and drinks! And please do not forget to grab an awesome swag! 🎁

🚀 Thrilled to invite you to our upcoming summer meetup “Hacking Postgres & Running it reliably in the cloud” on August 21, hosted at Yandex Hall, a public space for Armenia’s IT community by Yandex Armenia.
Andrey Borodin, team lead of open source RDBMS development at Yandex.Cloud, a Postgres hacker and contributor, will be joining us remotely to do a practical session on how you can start hacking Postgres and submit your first patch to Postgres. Maksim Dubakin, DevOps Engineer at Yandex.Cloud will be joining us in-person to speak about running PostgreSQL reliably in the cloud. Whether you’re a DevOps Engineer or you want to do your first steps in open source code contribution, this meetup is for you!
Talk 1: ”Writing a simple Postgres patch on your laptop” by Andrey Borodin
Postgres codebase is a text available to anyone. And actually it's not that hard to hack on it! In his talk, Andrey will show how to start working with Postgres core codebase. He will walk through the basic setup of Postgres development environment and together we will implement a small new feature in the big Postgres codebase.Talk 2: "How we ensure high availability in the Managed Service for PostgreSQL” by Maksim Dubakin
This talk explores the technical architecture and strategies behind achieving high availability in a Yandex Cloud Managed Service for PostgreSQL, covering cluster design, connection management, automated failover mechanisms, and backup strategies.🇷🇺 The language of the talks will be Russian.
