What we’re about
Hi! Thanks for looking at our site. We are a friendly active group for people who enjoy golf, and occasionally a few other sports or activities (snooker, table tennis, and watching sports). Golf events are mainly held in east Berkshire (e.g. Ascot and Wokingham), north west Surrey (e.g. Camberley and Woking), and south Buckinghamshire (e.g. High Wycombe). Non-golf activities are held in Ascot or Sunningdale.
Women and men of any age are welcome at our events. Having fun doing sports or activities, whilst perhaps making some friends are the main aims of the group - but please see further details below. Please ensure you have a facial photo of yourself when joining so that we can recognise you and welcome you when attending events (note: photos are only visible to members). Hope to see you soon!
Note: New members are generally expected to live (or work) within travelling distance of some of the area defined above. If not, your membership request may be rejected. If the group is 'full' you will be put on a waiting list and let in to the group when a place become available. *From late December 2024 new joiners will need to pay 'some sort' of membership fee within two months of joining (at least £2).
More details:
- Golf - organised most weekends - usually over 18 holes (but at least once a month over nine). Note: Golf events are largely for intermediate or more advanced golfers (see *** at the bottom of this page for extra details), and you will need to have played golf before.
- Snooker at Lavender Park, Ascot - held up to once a month during the week or at the weekend. Some experience needed for snooker.
- Other sports/activities: Table tennis is organised about once a month - often in conjunction with another group (see below also). Other non-team sports, and events to watch sport (including golf, badminton, and racing at Ascot) may also be organised. If time allows, we can also do basic badminton coaching - if that is of interest contact Dave or David.
- Please say on your profile which of our regular and occasional activities you are interested in!

There is roughly equal number of men and women in the group, and members are of various ages (mostly from late 20's to about 65). If there are vacancies, temporary local residents or visitors to the area from other parts or the country or from overseas are welcome to join. If the group is 'full' there may be a delay in accepting you into the group (but this will be done as soon as possible).

Notes:
*: There is a small annual membership charge (which varies between £2 and £10)
**: To keep the membership list up to date (mainly because we will probably save money on meetup fees for a smaller group no bigger than a particular size), some inactive members who have not paid any membership fee will probably be removed (as we assume they are not interested in doing events at this time) as follows: members who have not done any events since joining (if joined more than 18 months ago), members who have not looked at our site since joining day (if joined more than 9 months ago), members who have done at least one event (but not done any events for 18 months), or members who live too far away to attend events. But anyone removed can re-join on payment of a £2 membership fee. Note: These rules may be revised during the year.
* Members (esp. new members) who do more than one 'no show' will be removed.

***: Golf details: Events are organised at Courses to suit experienced, intermediate and improver players mainly. Cost usually £25 to £40 (for 18 holes), and occasionally higher. The area has some attractive and quite challenging golf courses. 'Less experienced' players should come to golf at Lavender Park, Hoebridge (Short course), Billingbear or courses listed below in South Buckinghamshire#. Other courses that we go to are usually only suitable for intermediate or advanced players: includes Sunningdale Heath, Chobham, Downshire, Pine Ridge, Sand Martins, Mill Ride, Royal Ascot, Winter Hill, Hennerton, Hoebridge (long course), Theale, Sutton Green, Bird Hills, Swinley Forest, Calcot Park, and Pyrford Lakes. #From 2023 golf events are also organised at the following courses in South Buckinghamshire: Oaklands Park, Huntswood and Hedsor (and possibly other venues) . Please check with hosts for any queries about standard of golf needed at any course.
