What we’re about

Are you an ASL student looking to get more practice signing? This group might be just what you're looking for!

Are you a native ASL signer? We'd love to have you in the group too!

The General Plan:

  1. I host regular Zoom meetings where you can practice your conversation skills with other signers. The majority of attendees will likely be students but there might be native ASL signers as well.
  2. If there's interest, I'll plan in person meetings.

What To Expect:

  1. Lots of small group conversations. We spend about half of the meeting in small groups based on ASL level so that you're with signers who are around the same level as you. You'll have lots of opportunities to participate, practice what you know and learn new things from other members.
  2. Themes, games and activities. I like to keep things interesting, so check event details to see what the theme is for each meeting. I'll also plan games and activities from time to time.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. If you are completely new to ASL, this is probably not the best group for you. There is no official ASL teacher in our group and our meetings aren't classes.
  2. If you know the ASL alphabet and have some basic conversation skills, you're welcome to join the group and see if you find it helpful.

Who Am I?:
I've been a student of ASL for about 7 years and a student of Spanish since I was in elementary school. I'm a bit obsessed with the process of learning languages. It probably has something to do with the fact that I was a teacher for 15 years. :-)

I also have a group for Spanish students. Interested?
