What we’re about
Welcome to the Atlanta Volunteers! We are a 501 c 3 and can award community service hours. alan@theabilityrevolution.com for information. Our registered name is FORSYTH AREA SPORTS TEAMS but our business name is THE ATLANTA VOLUNTEERS. If you click on our link for past events, you will see over 10 years and hundreds of events for the citizens of Georgia. Use this list to dream big about what can be possible!
Our success is due to volunteers with a vision to help others. If your event is a true volunteer event, please ask to be an event leader so that you can post your event and manage your volunteers.
I would like to invite you to be a leader and create an event for fun and with the goal of helping people. Sharing joy in this world is one of the greatest volunteer activities you can do and combining fun with your event will make it a success.
My passion for being a volunteer centers around my son who has Down Syndrome. The project to find employment, quality of life and respite care for a wide variety of conditions can be found at https://theabilityrevolution.com
I am currently the leader of Pack 114 Special Scouts. This is made up of boys, girls, men and women with special needs. Nobody ages out of the program and all are welcome. Forsyth County allows us to use an indoor heated pool with a meeting space for our scouts, as well as great use of county facilities such as campgrounds and nature centers. I am willing to share this access with anyone who has a true volunteer event. Please contact me alan@theabilityrevolution.com if you live in the Forsyth County area and would like to be involved.
One last thing, please login to your Kroger shopping card and list the FORSYTH AREA SPORTS TEAMS as your chosen charity.
Cheers
Alan Kindree

- Virtual Documentary Night: A Prayer For Compassion [Voting Night]Link visible for attendees
**YOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THIS EVENT**
For this Virtual Documentary Night we have voted to talk about the documentary, A Prayer For Compassion. The film follows Thomas Jackson on a quest across America, that ultimately takes him to Morocco for the UN Climate Conference and throughout the Indian subcontinent to ask the questions, “Can compassion grow to include all beings? And can people who identify as religious or spiritual come to embrace the call to include all human and nonhuman beings in our circle of respect and caring and love?” Again, you must watch the film before attending this event. Here is a link to where you can watch the film for free.
>>Click here to watch A Prayer For Compassion for FREE<<
This is a Voting Night, which means at the end of the night we brainstorm and vote to decide as a group what we will watch the following month, so please come ready with your recommendation. The only requirement is that the film must be available to watch online for free. If you need any ideas, you can search through the Flyers Page on the Community Documentary Night website. It is full of flyers based around certain themes and each flyer is full of documentary posters, which are hyperlinked to where you watch the films for free. Something to consider is that next month is November, which is Native American Heritage Month, and Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th. Check out the Native American Heritage Month flyer, and the Veterans Day flyer if you're interested in recommending a film in honor of these holidays.
Again, you must watch the film on your own BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then have a special guest Q&A, before closing out the night with a vote to decide what film we will watch the following month. The Zoom information is listed below.

Meeting ID: 875 5525 6659
Passcode: 861888This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!
