Easy/Moderate Walking/Hiking in MD

Let’s take a moderate hike at Jerusalem Mill!! Please bring a positive attitude, water, and a sense of adventure. Guests are welcome, however they must be 18 years of age or older.

Please note, Daylight Savings starts at 2am on Sunday, March 9, so please remember to adjust your clocks forward!

Here’s what you can expect:

• Loop hike about 6 miles total length at Jerusalem Mill
• Average pace of 2.5 mph with breaks as needed
• Approximately 2.5 hours of hiking including breaks
• Moderate with varied terrain (grass, hard-packed dirt, woods, rocks, roots, road)
• About 525 feet of elevation gain, multiple hill climbs
• Stream crossings and some road walking, muddy patches

You will be parking at Jerusalem Mill Historic Village. There should be plenty of open spaces.

We will meet near the signpost in the parking lot.

What to bring:

• Plenty of water (I recommend at least one liter)
• Bug spray
• Sunscreen
• Snacks
• Hiking boots & poles if you have them
• Any medications / medical supplies you might need (ie epipen, asthma inhaler)
• Dogs are welcome on this hike but they must be well behaved and on lead at all times

If you RSVP for this hike but decide not to come, please update your RSVP, otherwise we will be waiting for you.

We will step off at 9:45AM to give everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive & get ready. We will not wait past 9:45am. Please be on time.

Fern-ominal Hike 1 p.m. at the Nature Center

Join a Volunteer Ranger for a 3.5-mile round-trip hike along the Red Trail to learn about the park's ferns and see how many we can still see in January. The hike includes varied terrain and two “step across” creek crossings. The hike will be canceled in the event of snow or ice.

You will meet the ranger at PRSP Nature Center. Water or some form of liquid hydration is a must! Long pants / leggings and hiking boots are highly recommended.

The nature center is open from 11am to 1pm if you wish to arrive extra early at 12:30 p.m. you can check it out.
