Do you crush the opposition at every trivia night you attend but are getting tired of the judgmental looks you get for being a team of 1? (Ugh, societal norms.) Are you an alcoholic looking for a more socially acceptable outlet to indulge in your addiction? (Ugh, societal norms x 2.) Are you looking for a husband or wife, etc. but the Meetups focused on singles haven’t provided you with the platform necessary to show off your vast knowledge of useless facts that you know will attract your soulmate? (Ugh, philistines.) Or do you want to learn new things on a range of subjects but don’t like having to work at it by reading books? (Ugh, books.)
Well then, there might be something wrong with you…but this is the group for you! The goal of this group is to start up a team or multiple teams for weekly bar trivia nights in the Palm Beach area. An all-star team if you will, comprised of the best brains across a range of disciplines, to dominate the competition and bring them to tears…or a hodgepodge of nice know-nothings jockeying for the lowest scores in trivia night history…or both…or something in the middle.
I’m going to start with Think and Drink Trivia events, just because I am familiar with them, they offer several events each week at venues across Palm Beach (and South Florida in general), and they host a pretty solid round of trivia. But, by all means, feel free to suggest any other events you prefer or would like to try out. I have included a discussion board on the topic for such suggestions.
With my schedule, I can probably only commit to one event per week on a regular basis, so I’ll be looking for co-organizer volunteers to host on different nights if there is interest for multiple weekly events. And because I am based in Palm Beach Gardens, I will naturally be planning events nearest that area of town. For those of you further away who don’t want to schlep to me, however, I am happy to try to help organize events closer to you if you reach out to me.
Of course, our trivia team(s) will need a name, so I have posted a discussion board where you can share any of your witty and/or punny (and politically correct enough that we won’t get kicked out of any bars if we use them) team name suggestions.
