Welcome! Beat the Blues exists to provide nature hikes, campfire gatherings, weekend adventures, group travel, & other unique events for those who want to have new experiences and meet similar positive minded people doing the same.
I’m Michael. A few years back I found myself feeling isolated & trapped indoors during the pandemic while suffering the blow of a significant relationship end. Taking extreme accountability, I decided to take a hard look at myself and the direction of my life. I quickly became passionate about meditation, fitness, personal growth, and other wellness practices. As a result, I discovered the importance of nature for my wellbeing, as well as pushing the limits of my comfort zone. This has led to interests in primitive camping, backpacking, and traveling to serene locations all over the country.
My desire is to bring people together to live fearlessly and authentic. We will provide fun & adventurous activities that push self-limitations, promote mindfulness, and bring us in touch with our true selves in order to raise our vibe for the greatest good. So, if you're feeling apprehensive about joining us, rest assured you will meet a wonderful, welcoming group of diversified participants that will quickly make you feel right at home!
Please join our community initiative of beating the blues and raising inner wellness at our next event or message me with any questions you may have!

https://gusfrancospizza.square.site/Gus Franco's Pizza in Lower Burrell is celebrated for its artisanal wood-fired pizzas that boast a thin crust with perfectly charred edges. Customers rave about the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients, including fresh mozzarella and unique toppings like marinated mushrooms and hot sopressata. Their signature pizzas, such as the Cacio e Pepe, are particularly popular.
The restaurant is family-owned and prides itself on creating a welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff and excellent service. They also offer other handcrafted items like wood-fired meatballs, organic salads, and desserts, making it a well-rounded dining experience.

The Gap trail is a bike trail that stretches over 330 miles and starts at the Point of Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. On this stretch, we will bike along the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle, PA and head 10 miles East to Confluence, PA.
We will stop halfway in Confluence, Pa for a quick lunch at the Outflow Soft Freeze. You can an review the ride https://strava.app.link/wFbLcnJesSb
Note: this is almost a little more than 20 mile ride to and from (10miles each way) so if you sign up, please be sure to be able to bike that far. The good news is this is an out and back, and you are welcome to ride as far as you can go and turn around.
We will average a casual pace of 7-8 miles per hour. If riders are not able to keep this pace, we will not be able to wait for you and ask that you turn around.
The trail is crushed gravel. Most bikes will work, but road bikes make not be ideal. Pack at least one water bottle and a helmet!
