What we’re about

Beauty Shop Talk encourages an open space for Black women/femme people to connect. Beauty Shop Talk, is a nod to the Civil Rights Era, where "beauticians often used [the beauty] shops they owned as hubs for African American women to organize for political purposes." While this group is not centered around political issues, I want to create a space where we can collaborate, grow, understand each other, and ultimately, grow lasting friendships.
I want to do at least one event per month, but please bear with me as this is my first Meetup group. Types of events I have in mind include:
Vision Board for 2025
A Black History Month Event
Galentines Day Dinner
Business Brunch (Networking and Mentoring)
Yoga/Pilates Class
Monthly Fitness Challenge
Monthly Book Challenge
Volunteer Meetups
Game Nights
Sip & Paints
These events can be adjusted, and I'm happy to take suggestions.
