ROUTE - 37 miles, 1,900 ft ascent
Route: 75% of the route is on roads with bike lanes and 25% of the route is on neighborhood roads with narrow shoulder where we will have to share the road with vehicles occasionally. Oracle Road has a nice wide shoulder but because of the traffic noise, we will minimize distance spent on Oracle.
Start/End: In parking lot across from Skin Care by Design located at 11143 N La Canada Dr (South of the Building in which Bruegger's is located).
Bathroom/Water:
3.2 miles - Hohokam Park
17.5 miles - Mini market in SaddlebrookeDue to the expected warm weather, please be prompt and arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. If you sign up for the ride and are running a couple of minutes late call John @ 920-737-3902.
Feel free to join us at Bruegger's Bagels after the ride (11165 N La Cañada Dr, Oro Valley).
Load the route into your bicycle computer, your smart phone or print a copy of the cue sheet. Otherwise, follow the rider in front of you and hope for the best!
If you haven't ridden with me before, I will not have your contact information. If so, please send your name, phone number, emergency contact w/ emergency contact phone number (NOT 911) to me at jwvanderwall@gmail.com or text to me at 920-737-3902. The ride waiver will be filled out prior to the ride; you will just need to verify the information and sign it.
Recently our C+ rides have had end of ride averages 16+/-1 mph. These routes have more ascent than usual, so these averages may be slightly lower. If you are not comfortable or not capable of this expected end of ride average speed, please do not participate in that ride.
There will be some ride-at-your-own-pace sections and regroup areas designated by your ride leader. Other than these ride-at-your-own-pace sections, riders are expected to ride at the pace of the ride leader and between the ride leader and the sweep, it there is one. Otherwise, if you are in front of the ride leader, you are on your own.

ROUTE
Let's start at Tangerine Sky Park so we can climb early! It's going to heat up so I think 5:30 AM start is a good idea. (low 84 degrees, high 106 predicted as of today)We will climb Dove to Ritz and then to the park, rest and recover there at mile 9. Then continue on route and go through the Tunnel and then turn around; continue on Moore Road and do a loop to Hokoman park, taking a break there at 23 miles. Return via neighborhoods and Tangerine! Fun times.
Average pace 14-16 mph with ride at your own pace sections/re groups:
Start/End: 5:30 AM Tangerine Sky Park (nice tables with shade so bring cooler with cold drink and snack for post ride socializing)
Water/Bathrooms/Rest stop:
Mile 9 at Park at end of Dove Mountain Blvd
Mile 23 Hokoman park (no water there... so load up at mile 9!)Route: Mainly roads with bike lanes.
Safety/Legal Refresher: On roads that we share cars and trucks, make yourself visible with lights/bright clothing, ride as a group, and whenever possible stay in the bike lane. Call out road hazards and announce stopping. Communicate at all times!
Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in.
Load the route into your bicycle computer, your smart phone or print a copy of the cue sheet. Review route prior to ride. Otherwise, follow the ride leader
If you haven't ridden with me before, I will not have your contact information. If so, please send your name, phone number, emergency contact, emergency contact phone number (NOT 911) to theresagilbert90@gmail.com. If you are bringing a +1, send their information as well. The ride waiver will be filled out prior to the ride, you will just need to verify the information and sign it.
This C+ ride will average between 14 and 16 MPH. This is a no drop ride, however two groups may form if I designate a faster ride leader for the higher end of the average (may average near 17 if it forms). If you do not know the route, stay with me or wait for me if you get dropped on route)
If you are not comfortable or not capable of this expected pace average for the route you chose, please do not participate in it, it is not fair to the other riders.
Riders are expected to ride at the pace of the ride leader and between the ride leader and the sweep if designated. There will be ride-at-your-own-pace sections and regroup areas designated by the ride leader, such as the climb up Twin Peaks. If you are not a member of our cycling club, please join: Sign Up Link
