What we’re about
With local chapters around the world, the sole purpose of Biohackers Collective (www.biohackerscollective.org) is to bring together like-minded people obsessed with the pursuit of achieving an optimized life and superhuman performance, through biohacking and self-experimentation.
We're fully primed for both health fanatics and science nerds alike: So whether you're an edge-seeking CEO, a plugged-in athlete, or an absolute beginner who's just heard of the term, you're more than welcome to come out to exchange ideas, learn or teach something, network face to face, and most of all have a good time at Vancouver's first biohacking group.
Our mission: To unlock the code of human potential, by bridging the gap between the extreme and mainstream, and making the impossible, possible. We provide a setting for multi-disciplinary discussions that go beyond self-quantification, to include the art and science of taking control of your own biology, and changing the environment inside and outside yourself, so you can perform at a level you want across various domains including mental, physical, and spiritual - all while utilizing a combination of bleeding-edge tools & technologies, time-tested strategies and earth grown nutrients.

The hype is real. Biohacking is the next big thing and has the potential to become a mass phenomenon and health revolution. It covers a current human need that is basically unmet today – the need to know what goes on inside our bodies when we’re eating, drinking, working, and moving.
So do you have a desire to not only rule yourself, but become the perfect version of yourself, gain an unfair advantage in life, maximize results, and supercharge your performance? If the answer is YES then I invite you to attend, participate, and grow with us in building a community around finding out what’s possible with our biology in the 21st century.
So, are you “Bio curious”? .

See all- Intro to Brain Networks and NeuroplasticityMVMTLAB, Vancouver, BC
Welcome to the 1st Vancouver Biohackers talk of 2025.
Our "Talks" series is designed to provide contemporary education on the deeper physiological and neurological mechanisms residing within us all.
In this upcoming talk, we will explore why and how our brain shifts its attention by alternating between different networks to deal with daily tasks. Neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to change when given the right circumstances, will be a key focus. Learn how to harness the principles of neuroplasticity to guide your brain's attention networks, combat pain, and facilitate learning.
Join us for an informal, educational gathering aimed at helping you develop and perform at a higher level.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Overview:
Learning is a natural, automatic process that occurs as we develop from infancy. However, as we get older, it becomes more difficult to absorb information from our surroundings. Our brain shifts its attention based on what's important. In this talk, you'll discover how and why the brain switches between different brain networks to focus on essential tasks.
Neuroplasticity refers to the brain's ability to change under the right conditions.
Key Objectives:
-
Pain can distract us and take away our focus.
-
Find out how pain signals can alter our attention and disrupt the learning process.
-
Learn how you can use the principles of neuroplasticity to guide your brain's attention networks, combat pain, and make learning easier.
Agenda
1. Introduction to brain networks.
2. Principles of neuroplasticity. Focus, motivation, practice.
3. How does it relate to skill development and body control?
4. How it relates to pain and protective patterns.
5. Central sensitization. What is it?
6. What to do to unlock neuroplasticity and create changes in the brain.
7. Treatment approach - novel input.
8. Training to reach a pain-free experience, the Automatic State.About Your Facilitator: Jeff Almon, DC
Dr. Jeff Almon, DC is continuously learning to understand what the body needs to perform at its best. Since we’re not built with an instruction manual, his goal is to add his chapter to the never ending book on movement science.
Being a former high-performance athlete, Jeff aims on helping individuals attain high-performance bodies and minds through a functional neurological approach, through effective manual therapy approaches and an innovative functional approach on movement.
Jeff’s early years were marked by his dedication to sports. From 1997 to 2002, he played college football with the University of Calgary Dinos, where he co-captained the team in his final two seasons and earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology.
His athletic career took a professional turn when he was drafted into the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a fullback. He played for the Calgary Stampeders and later the BC Lions. In 2004, he decided to pursue a different path and was accepted into the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College's Doctor of Chiropractic program.
After obtaining his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree in 2008, Dr. Almon transitioned to consulting and treating professional athletes and sports teams. Notable clients included the Chinese National Speed Skating Team, PGA Tour athletes, FIVB Volleyball athletes, the Vancouver Canucks development program, the Canadian Women's soccer team, professional sprint cyclists, and multiple Olympic athletes.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Almon assumed a coaching role for the London Legion Track and Field Club and eventually the West Vancouver Track & Field Club, imparting his knowledge of functional movement to young athletes.
In 2013, he founded MVMTLAB with the goal of transforming the healthcare experience. Dr. Almon specializes in complex cases of chronic pain, focusing on neuroprotective patterns and reactive stability. He emphasizes patient involvement in the recovery process and welcomes individuals from all backgrounds.
Dr. Almon's contribution to the field includes the development of MVMTLAB's Neuroplasticity Gym, which offers group classes called Ground Control and the Shoulder Codex, among others. He is also developing a manual treatment course called “Entry Point” to help practitioners treat complex cases. These programs aim to expedite injured patients' recovery and serve as injury prevention protocols. He is also an affiliated clinician at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Jeff Almon is passionate about sharing his knowledge and ideas to enhance the human experience.About MVMT LAB:
